Learn advanced skills capitalizing on the new Fabrication functionality in Revit 2017 software. Using Revit schedules, assemblies, tags, views, interference checking, and new features in Revit 2017 software, we can produce fabrication documentation inside of the Revit software interface, which enables us to be fully coordinated with design consultants. While Fabrication Parts was introduced in 2016, it was in Revit 2017 software that they became fully functional while remaining in a single interface. We’ll cover how to model using Fabrication Parts; how to convert the design model into Fabrication Parts; how to use assembly views to create spools sheets and details; how to annotate Fabrication Parts in plan view and 3D; how to coordinate with other consultants in Revit software; how new Revit 2017 software features relate to Fabrication Parts; and how to import existing as-built conditions from Fabrication CADmep software into a new renovation project. This session features Revit and Fabrication CADmep.

A long-awaited design automation for Revit (DA4R) has finally arrived! Currently, DA4R is available to general public as a beta. Using DA4R, you can create, edit, and extract Revit models through the Revit API without having the Revit desktop environment. For example, you can create a model automatically by entering parameters, check if certain design criteria are met and create a report, and automatically modify the model. It is also possible to extract model data which was not possible with Forge Model Derivative API only. In this session, we will introduce DA4R to those who have experience writing Revit add-ins and are interested in learning Forge. You will learn how to convert your existing Revit add-ins to run in the cloud, and get started with leveraging Forge services (for example, integrating with viewer and BIM 360).

It’s hard to believe that Revit software has been around for nearly 20 years, but we can’t seem to agree on how to work together with it. This simple fact is the basis for this panel session. Here in 2018, we’ve come a long way from the early days of Revit, but we still can’t seem to get out of our silos and really work together. Sure, we can collaborate on projects, but we still don’t really know what our fellow disciplines need in their Revit models—and, by extension, what we could put in our models to improve theirs. But what if we just asked the other disciplines what they needed? This will be a moderated panel discussion, with 7 different Revit disciplines represented: architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, construction, FM/Owner/Operator, and Software/Revit.

In this class, we’ll explore the new Export Revit Project (RVT file) functionality in Inventor 2022 software. We'll explore why BIM (Building Information Modeling) is important to building product manufacturers, custom fabricators, and industrial facility owners, and level set on Inventor software's existing BIM interoperability tools. We'll then work our way through a five-part workflow example that includes 1) importing Revit data with AnyCAD for Inventor for Revit projects (RVT file); 2) simplifying the manufacturing design model in Inventor, “bottom up” (with simplify) and “top down” using Model States (also new in Inventor 2022); 3) exporting the Inventor model as a Revit project (RVT file); 4) linking the Inventor model into Revit for review and collaboration; and 5) updating the Inventor model, and updating the export to see the design update in Revit. We'll provide data set and written and video recorded instructions, and there’ll be a live session of questions and answers.
