Despite a reported 91% medium or high level of improvement in productivity, only 27% of general contractors have moved to automate their payment application process through technology. This indicates a growing need towards adopting software automation tools to replace manual processes. With this shift in mind, it is essential for GCs to understand what to look for in subcontractor management software. This session explores the critical features, their benefits, and the overall advantages of integrating technology into subcontractor management along with sharing how these solutions actually work in conjunction with your construction accounting system.

Model-based technology can virtually identify and eliminate clashes. Unfortunately, that doesn't always translate to accurate, conflict-free layouts on the jobsite, especially when done separately by each trade contractor. New research from Dodge Construction Network shows that this traditional noncollaborative approach to jobsite layout is inherently inefficient, and frequently generates cross-trade conflicts and construction errors that cause multiple quality, safety, productivity, cost, and schedule issues. The research further shows that more-coordinated and collaborative multitrade processes greatly improve outcomes for everyone involved, especially when taking advantage of exciting new automation technologies that use model data.

In-wall coordination is arguably one of the most complex workflows to manage throughout the whole lifecycle of a project build. But it doesn't have to be. There are many factors that go into designing and building the interiors of any project, and this can become even more complex in projects involving health care and life sciences. In the construction industry, it's not uncommon for the walls of a building to be coordinated by traditionally marking up construction documentation, or by field coordinating MEP rough-in. However, this approach can lead to a lot of RFIs and rework—and an overall quality reduction. Enhancing in-wall coordination through a virtual coordination process will not only improve the overall efficiency of your project build, it will also unlock many prefabrication opportunities for the general contractor and trade partners. And it will provide opportunities for multitrade layout through robotics, combat labor shortages, and greatly increase the overall quality output of the project.

Makersite is transforming how products are made by accelerating the transition to a sustainable economy. We're the leader in delivering supply chain digital twins for product sustainability, risk, and cost optimization for the world's leading brands. Our technology combines AI, data, and apps to power sustainable product and supply chain decisions at scale, helping manufacturing enterprises solve complex challenges in minutes, where previously it would take them months. We do this by empowering manufacturing companies' engineering and procurement teams with the data they need to make better decisions about what to use to make their products and where they should buy those materials. Makersite's AI automatically maps a company's product data, suppliers, and manufacturing processes against 140+ material and supply chain databases. It then constructs granular, precise digital twins of each product and how they are made, used, and disposed of.

Construction disputes carry significant risk for all owners, operators, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and insurers. Max Abrahamson wrote, "A party to a dispute… will learn three lessons (often too late): the importance of records, the importance of records, and the importance of records." Claims and disputes are common. However legal fees and arbitration/litigation costs involved in pursuing claims can put businesses under immense financial strain. This is particularly true when records are unclear or onerous to work with. Where evidence is unclear, the time and cost involved in resolving disputes can skyrocket. Over the past decade, HKA has helped clients use digital evidence to their advantage in dispute resolution. On this journey, we've developed an understanding of best practices for architecture, engineering, and construction projects. In this session, we'll cover how to produce useful evidence using models (and Autodesk software), and we'll discuss case studies showing best practices.
