Re-drafting when design changes occur, needing to increase drafting efficiency coordination errors, and interfacing with the industry leading data collectors is a huge challenge for a company. Working with all of the different departments of engineering and merging all work done in one central location where each can share their work and check clashes and errors is a difficult task. To share real-time models with Engineers working at different offices was one of the major challenges for DUTCO.

Preparing 2D drawings and sharing with stakeholders were not found easy since the comments, design changes, and markup required better understanding. We heard about BIM and its benefits including easy integration with CAD drawings and cloud collaboration to the stakeholders. We engaged to learn and practise BIM for the near future and current projects. Sharing models with revised comments and markups are so handy now to meet the project team ideas required in our RFIs. Finding clashes within our models and resolving them were tight with the 2D drafting process. Now, it is very understandable with quick solutions using BIM models and the necessary skills adopted to be more competitive.
