We will discuss how to leverage Autodesk Inventor® Fusion technology as the front-end modeler and idealization tool for Autodesk Moldflow. We will show how to use Inventor Fusion to import CAD data, then edit and simplify it in preparation for Autodesk Moldflow simulation. We will discuss the techniques to simplify a part model and make design changes, such as modifying the part thickness and adding ribs, using Inventor Fusion. We will also discuss the alternative workflow of starting the simulation process in Autodesk Moldflow Insight, launching Inventor Fusion from Autodesk Moldflow Insight to modify geometry, and then rerunning the solver analysis in Autodesk Moldflow Insight.

This class will discuss the tools available in Autodesk® Moldflow® Insight for simulating the dynamic temperature changes experienced in the mold during an injection molding process by using the Cool Finite Element Method (FEM) functionality. Topics covered will include modeling requirements, process setup and workflow, theory, result interpretation, and validation examples. Focus will also be given to new functionality available in the Scandium Technology Preview supporting dual-domain part models, thermoset molding and variable coolant inlet temperature processes, including Rapid Heating and Cooling of the Mold (RHCM), also known as Rapid Temperature Cycling or Variotherm. This class covers the steps involved in importing the CAD Model into Inventor HSM integrated CAM Solution for Inventor 2015 software. This process reduces the errors involved during importation and further enables designers and engineers to generate CNC codes and set up models for manufacturability. We'll cover some tools and tips of efficiency, differences between top-down and bottom-up assemblies, adaptive parts, model simplification, level of detail, weldments, Inventor Studio environment, and frame generator. After creating base views and projected views from 3D solid or surface models, we’ll explore sectional views. Using 3D models, we’ll create full, half, offset, and aligned sectional drawing views. We’ll also create circular and rectangular detail views. We will apply editing techniques of the 3D models to then update the derived drawing views. We will also explore undocumented Auxiliary View features from 3D models. We’ll export the 2D sectional drawing views into model space using the EXPORTLAYOUT command to get true size and shape geometry to edit and annotate as needed. If you’ve used AutoCAD 3D software in the past to create 2D multiview drawings from 3D models, attend this class and get ready to be surprised.

This is a lab where I wanted to show the perspective of a self-taught student using Inventor and the challenges I went through and how I went from starting out to mastering the skills needed to make the projects I made for my GCSE 3D Design Course.

This class covers the use of the Lip, Boss, and Grill commands inside of Inventor software. We'll discuss real-world examples of how to create lips, bosses, and grills in Inventor software. We'll also take a look at the Split command, and we'll show how to use multiple solid bodies within a part, including how to control their visibility and material. Prior part-creation and sketch-creation knowledge will be useful.

Making a few changes in the software settings and workflow practices can greatly reduce this wasted time and make you more productive.

A common engineering environment may consist of several different pieces of software that you need to transfer data between. We will present a workflow that we have developed for tracking member sizes and connection designs from our analysis software (Ansys) through AutoCAD software, Microsoft Excel, Inventor software, and Navisworks software. All of the data is stored in Vault software and actively monitored for the latest version. This presentation will show the process using Microsoft PowerPoint and demonstrate using live data.
