AIA CES Even with the enhancements of building information modeling (BIM) workflows, the estimators have struggled to take off quantities accurately due to the lack of "information" in the BIM data. Add to that the complexity of combining 3D takeoffs with 2D drawings, and the estimators have a never-ending nightmare. The result is either not winning the job, or winning with not much profit. This is where Autodesk Takeoff-the cloud-based 2D and 3D quantity takeoff (QTO) tool from Autodesk Construction Cloud-is proving to be a gamechanger. With the industry-leading, automated, 3D takeoff capabilities combined with easy-to-use 2D takeoff tools, Autodesk Takeoff allows estimators to generate accurate bids and win more jobs. This class will focus on showing the capabilities of the connected takeoff process using the BIM data hosted on the Autodesk Construction Cloud project. You'll learn about the automated 3D takeoffs and how to combine them with the customizable 2D takeoffs to generate accurate bids. You'll also learn how to review changes in design and update your takeoffs.
Working for an AECO+ Company is like being in a committed relationship. As such, there are lots of ups and downs. Almost Everyone at one time or other wonders what it would be like to leave their firm and work somewhere else. When should that time be? Are your coworkers difficult to work with? Are you burned out from working long hours? Do you enjoy what you are doing? Does it have meaning? What about your boss? Are they making your life easier or harder? Do you want to advance, and your firm or co-workers are holding you back? Do you feel you are just getting paid too little? Is it really your firm or is it you that needs to change? How are all these questions affected by Covid? This class will discuss these questions and many more. This session will be designed so that the attendees will be given, and even encouraged, to give feedback and join in the discussion. So, bring your thoughts and complaints and your comments about your workplace and let’s dive right in!
Join us for a networking lunch and learn session. As Revit users and AEC Technologists, we naturally design, create and share. While the software used is not the focus, it is definitely part of the process. In addition to this consideration, we need to have access to the hardware to design, create and share. In this presentation, we will take a look at a Revit plugin author’s typical workflow and how the right hardware can make or break your workflow.
Model Properties and Data Exchange API are recent addition to Forge family. They allow us to access design data in more controlled manner, such as by filtering, searching and comparing models between versions. Instead of sending the entire model, you can select only the portion that your collaborator needs. Together with Model Derivatives and Design Automation API, we now have more options to access design data. However, can you tell which one to use for your specific needs? Do you know differences among those APIs? In this session, we will introduce you to two new recently added APIs: Model Properties and Data Exchange API. We will then compare various options we have to access design data. We will show the examples of use cases, and discuss potential application areas that were not possible till now.
When designing new products, it’s easy to focus on new technologies and futuristic forms, overlooking cultural heritage. This talk will explore how to take advantage of new innovative tools for designing, making, using, and connecting products, while maintaining a strong connection with the user’s cultural identity. An example of this process is Checho, a voice-controlled smart home hub that plays music, answers questions, and performs multiple tasks in and around the home, similar to Amazon Echo and Google Home. What makes Checho unique is its relation to Latinx culture. It’s made out of solid wood and accentuated with traditional Guatemalan fabric, which conceals its high-tech internal components. Checho was designed with Autodesk Fusion 360 software and fabricated via computer numerical control (CNC) milling, reinforcing the concept of using advanced tools without compromising traditional cultural identity. The AEC industry is still undergoing a digital transformation, VDC and the design-build project delivery method are accelerating, and the path to net zero is ramping up. So, how well prepared are you to succeed in our industry's dynamic environment? Although VDC and design-build project delivery are not new concepts, they are flourishing because they maximize returns on investments in time, money, and effort while achieving sustainability. Still, many in the AEC community have not fully adopted 3D BIM and collaborative project delivery, which can greatly improve project quality and value while reducing the built world's environmental impact. Join this session to explore why the combination of VDC, design-build, and sustainable design and construction are the ideal lenses for projects. A panel of industry professionals will discuss VDC, the design-build project delivery system, sustainable strategies, innovative technologies, real-world projects, and best practices.
Join us for a networking lunch and learn session. Witness lethal hybrid performance and flexibility for Autodesk Workflows. Today, Mobile workstations are 100% more powerful than they were only 4 years ago at many Autodesk product design workflows. Maybe you thought it wasn't worthwhile upgrading your existing system yet, after all, a faster workstation doesn't make you a better engineer or designer. But with todays Intel Core HX hybrid Mobile Workstations, you will be measurably passively more productive. Autodesk Expert Elite Neil Cross along with Dell demonstrate the incredible flexibility and blistering performance of current generation Mobile Workstations with Autodesk Product Design & Manufacturing Collection, come and witness what's possible and have your questions answered in this lunch & learn special.
