In this roundtable session, we present the story of Seattle City Light's vision and decision-making in implementing model-based design using AutoCAD® Utility Design software. This case study presents the development of the business case that utilities must consider when moving towards model-based design. In this session, we also describe new workflows and outline challenges of dealing with a downtown meshed network and a looped-radial network together in a single design tool. Ram is a solutions architect for 20 years with extensive consulting experience in geographic information systems (GIS) and related technologies; He has many delivered successful projects in the telecom and utility industry and has the experience of the whole project life cycle. He is also experienced in integration of wide range of IT systems for the telecom, utility, banking and airline industries. He has a strong database and enterprise integration technology background using open standards and middleware technology. He is currently responsible for providing solutions to integrate Autodesk® products into the utility customer's workflow.
Kevin, based in Northeast Ohio, is a Utility Business Consultant for Autodesk. Kevin has 30 years experience in the Utility industry with 20 years of designing, implementing and maintaining utility solutions including GIS, Design, Work Management, Outage Management, Asset Management, etc…. He has been with Autodesk for five years was with FirstEnergy Corp 23 years prior to that. Kevin now works with both publicly traded and governmental infrastructure management organizations to understand business processes and drivers and then help them implement Autodesk based solutions. Kevin's key skill is the ability to connect with Autodesk Customers, listen, understand, and interpret as they strive to meet their business goals using Autodesk solutions.
