This class will present the AutoCAD software JavaScript API. Attendees will learn how to use this technology to create web- and cloud-based plug-ins. We will connect web capabilities to the JavaScript API technology, demonstrating how users can quickly create the AutoCAD Thin Client software plug-ins, utilizing amazing JavaScript libraries and obtaining a unique user experience with professional results.

With the release of the AutoCAD including specialized toolsets subscription last year, you can now also take your CAD projects on the go with the AutoCAD web app —the browser-based version of the original AutoCAD software. Shaun Bryant (CadJedi), a LinkedIn Learning [in]structor, will show you how to save from AutoCAD directly to your web and mobile apps. You will learn how to use the AutoCAD web app in Google Chrome, learn how to view and edit designs on the fly and in the field from a tablet or smartphone and communicate your designs from the field, and back to your AutoCAD desktop app. You will also learn how to access the tools from any mobile browser, sync your files across your mobile devices, upload files on the go, and edit drawings from a mobile browser—or sync them back to the desktop for closer inspection.

Learn to combine the power of Microsoft® Excel® with the power of AutoCAD software. This class will explore several ways you can use AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel in tandem without programming. You'll be able to apply everything learned in this class using an out-of-the-box installation of AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel. Conventional concepts will include working with Data Links to display, update, and manage Excel data from AutoCAD. Lesser-known concepts will include updating Update Block Attributes from Excel tables, combining Data Extraction tables with Excel (Data Link) tables, and writing AutoCAD script files using Excel.

Building on concepts originally introduced in AutoCAD 2013 SP 1.1, AutoCAD 2014 software implemented a much more stringent security model in place for applications. This has been introduced to combat the rise of malware that targets AutoCAD. This class teaches you everything you need to know about the new security features inside of AutoCAD and how to create apps that observe these new security features.
