Multidiscipline collaboration is key when using different tools for each discipline. Forma Design Collaboration software helps different teams that are using different design tools from different locations to coordinate design and engineering work more easily and efficiently. We’ll solve the challenge of combining Revit software for architectural, structural and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) design and AutoCAD Plant 3D software for industrial piping design. We’ll share specific workflows using Autodesk Forma that address both simple sharing needs (for consultants and owners for example) as well as co-authoring controlled and coordinated design.

Why continue to struggle with outdated design tools when a more efficient approach is within reach? Embracing fabrication tools—like Fabrication Parts in Revit software—P&ID Modeler for Revit allows engineers to focus on engineering rather than spending excessive time on modeling. This class will show various workflows not only with the supported software tools like Revit, Civil 3D, and AutoCAD Plant 3D, but also with approval workflows, RFIs, submittals, ways sheets flow through a project, and ways you can use Autodesk Forma Connect to transfer data across different cloud platforms. This class will inspire you to expand your use of Autodesk Forma.

Connecting Microsoft Power Bi to AutoCAD Plant 3D software enables your organization to apply business intelligence to your design models. Learn how to raise the visibility of the design process by giving project managers, engineers, and other teams access to your model data without interrupting the design process. Power BI can help answer questions like: What's the project progress in modeling? How many lines still need isometrics? Did all my equipment get modeled yet? Is my line list complete? These are common questions to ask, but they can require so much work to get an answer that the design process has to stop. With Power Bi, your reporting and project status information can be pulled in parallel with your design efforts. By being able to bring the status information to a weekly stand-up meeting, your team can focus on discussing solutions instead of discovering problems.

Understand the power of models, data, and management working and evolving together with shared tools across one environment. Through the lens of a vast, 270,000 sf greenfield pharmaceutical manufacturing facility project, CRB shares how their team flowed through multiple phases from design to operations for this advanced digital facility. This session outlines how data and models from previous phases of a Digital Prototyping project can be used to better inform and improve the subsequent phases and the overall optimization of a factory’s production. Supporting the facility, tools like ACC, Revit, and Plant 3D enabled effective project, document, and Field Engineer, with Modeling to support turnover and proactively avoid issues. Autodesk tools continued to shake hands and support the project through factory operations, with tools like FlexSim to justify the business case, develop operating strategies, and detect future production inefficiencies.

We'll also share how the Alpha/Beta program works and how you can influence the next version of AutoCAD software. We run year-round Alpha and Beta programs. Water infrastructure owners and operators face poor asset information handover due to system misalignment. Could Automation, Integration, & Customization and integrated data enable Digital Prototypings to support operational efficiency, reduce rework and costs, and improve health and safety (H&S)? Learn how GHD successfully used client-focused data exchange and cloud collaboration during the 40MLD upgrade of Wellington Water Limited’s Te Mārua water treatment plant to ease these struggles. Automating the integration of asset information using Autodesk products enabled delivery of the asset register 12 months early—saving NZ$150,000 and 1,400 hours in asset data management. Combining Esri mobile apps and dashboards enhanced as-built quality and reduced site H&S risks. A proof of concept was developed where GeoBIM and Forma Data Management software were fused to create a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) common data environment (CDE)—the foundation for an operations and maintenance Digital Prototyping. We’ll share valuable lessons on managing evolving data needs and supply chains to demonstrate how connected workflows made Project Delivery more efficient.

AutoCAD (& verticals) Plant 3D, and Revit all have different workflows with ACC/BIM 360 projects and the Desktop Connector. After many challenging hours I believe I have finally found a way to explain the various ACC/BIM 360 workflows and would like to share this knowledge with everyone else who's also dealing with all these various workflows and collaboration options. Specifically, I'm going to cover working with Revit, Plant 3D, and Civil 3D (same workflows for AutoCAD) with ACC and/or BIM 360 projects. I'll also cover the Desktop Connector 15 and 16 and the differences we've encountered, good and bad.
