ITC Limited has developed a diverse range of infrastructure across various asset classes. However, the company recognized the need to improve project management by making outcomes more predictable. To achieve this, ITC looked toward digitalization and a cultural shift by embracing new technologies. The goals included enhancing data accessibility, incorporating building information modeling (BIM), improving digital maturity, and reducing regimental processes. With the help of Autodesk Construction Cloud, establishing a common data environment (CDE) was straightforward, enabling traceable and accountable automated workflows essential for ISO 19650 compliance. This led to the project receiving the Kitemark certification, marking it as the first in India and fourth globally to achieve "Project Kitemark certification." This achievement underscores ITC's successful digital transformation, improving information management, document standardization, workflow automation, and information exchange ecosystems.

Parametric tools are still sitting in a niche corner and, incorrectly, considered applicable only to equally niche projects. This talk will demonstrate how a basic understanding of Grasshopper software and the Dynamo extension can add massive value to a design team (and I will quantify said value to help you convince the skeptics). This class will demonstrate simple workflows in Dynamo, Grasshopper, Microsoft Excel, and Revit software that we developed to help us efficiently design and document a new stadium in Sydney, Australia. These tools helped us reduce our documentation time by more than 500 hours (50%). These simple tools were developed in both Dynamo and Grasshopper, and this talk is targeted at anyone interested in new workflows and increasing efficiency. We will demonstrate a series of scripts associated with foundation and rock assessment and column modeling and scheduling, and we’ll cover design and documentation tools for the geometrically complex tensile roof. This class demonstrates automatic generation of reinforcement elements using results from analysis and design in Revit® Structure 2014 software. Design requirements from building codes and company standards can be controlled by user-defined rules similar to the approach used in expert systems. Various aspects of this expert system are discussed. Visualization of existing and needed reinforcement further support users to ensure their quality of work.

This class is for you if you’re a Fusion 360 user who regularly works with imported data, with the primary goal of reverse-engineering a design from that imported data. We’ll explore some techniques to use data—such as meshes, curves, images, and even solids and surfaces—from other design systems to create a basis for creating a reliable, native, parametric Fusion 360 design that represents that data as closely as possible. Learn what Fusion 360 can and cannot do when working with imported data. Learn how to avoid common performance problems when working with imported meshes and curves.

Is your Revit model corrupt or causing crashes? Is the team unable to work and is losing productivity? The world of manufacturing and production technology is constantly changing. The uprising of the maker movement has seen many people gaining access to an array of machinery and technology on a scale never before seen and opening many doors that were previously locked solid, encouraging many ideas to become reality that have previously been unachievable. Micromanufacturing is the transformation of dreams and ideas into reality through the use of low-cost, minimalistic production technology and equipment in home-style businesses across the globe. In this class, we’ll cover the evolution of micromanufacturing, the ability it has to transform small ideas into viable products for a fraction of the cost of traditional manufacture, and some real-world applications for micromanufacturing in an innovative, small-scale production environment.

The McCarthy team is capitalizing on BIM 360 Field software to track quality and progress on various building elements. As a result, they had several custom reporting requirements to regularly report out on. A custom building-equipment tracking report called the "Quality Log" involves the use of the equipment module, the checklist modules, and the issues module in BIM 360 Field software. The custom report enables project teams to see the status of any equipment item: all the properties associated with it, the status of any associated checklists, and the number of open and closed issues. We will cover how to use the equipment module in some creative ways to help us manage the construction progress. Only a few years ago, we saw the introduction of new technologies such as 3D parametric and intelligent bidirectional design tools. Now we are trying to retrofit them to serve our ability to design and deliver products in ways that are very complex. We've heard a lot about the trends and tools, but we have spent little time addressing the impact on the people in our organizations. We can teach skill sets, but shifting people's approach to design, collaboration, and build among themselves, their consultants, and clients through technology is now an urgent issue that may decide between the success and failure of our financial investments. In this roundtable session, we look at the key variables that keep our staff from embracing this new way of doing business. We provoke the legal, financial, cultural and technological aspects of our transformation, only to realize that we have years of processes to undo to make our new approach worth investing in.

An important part of the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process for concrete structures is the derivation of 2D shop drawings from the 3D reinforcement model. This model is more or less the same worldwide; shop drawings, however, may look very different. This class will show you how to use Revit Structure software together with SOFiSTiK Reinforcement Detailing to easily produce shop drawings and schedules out of Revit software models that contain rebars. Learn how to use individual content to meet requirements of different markets and company standards. A second part of the course will cover the creation and modification of the required families.

In 2016, Fayetteville, AR, began planning a 70,000-square-foot expansion to their existing library. The project adds innovative, community-focused spaces where patrons can develop photography, experience VR, and host large-scale events. One challenge identified by the owner was how to manage the equipment in both the new addition and the existing building. The facilities team decided to use BIM 360 Ops software as their computerized maintenance management system and engaged a consultant to streamline the data-import process. This class will explain the process and key considerations for successful integration of BIM 360 Ops for existing and new construction. The team worked together to establish the asset list to ensure streamlined import of data from the facility’s existing documentation and the expansion’s design and construction data.
