This class will describe the benefits of using PowerShape software and Moldflow Insight to model and simulate a conformal cooling tool. With 3D printing on the rise, conformal cooling is becoming a more widely available option to create cooling channels in metal in order to more evenly cool a plastic component during the molding process. Utilizing the modeling power of PowerShape to build a mold with channels following the geometry of the plastic part-and then validating the channels using Moldflow-can save time and money by eliminating the need to 'build it and hope it works."
- Learn how to model a mold component within PowerShape
- Learn how to simulate a conformal cooling analysis in Moldflow
- Learn how to analyze Moldflow software’s results to identify if changes need to be made in the conformal channels
- Understand the advantage of simulating conformal channels prior to cutting steel
With a degree in Plastics Engineering, Kristen has always had a knack for Making. After completing the hands-on plastics program at Pennsylvania State University, The Behrend College, she joined the industry as a Project Engineer and Facility Engineer at a custom injection molding company. While there, she gained experience using Autodesk Moldflow to assist in planning and managing tool builds by utilizing Autodesk Moldflow, helping customers see their dreams come to life by manufacturing their parts.Kristen joined Autodesk in 2013 as a Technical Support Specialist for all Moldflow products. She has recently joined the marketing team as a Technical Marketing Specialist to help show the vast possibilities of Moldflow, along with other Autodesk products, to Make Anything!
Jon joined Autodesk in August 2016, following the acquisition of Delcam. He joined Delcam in 1984, and since then has fulfilled a number of technical roles. He spent 10 years in international support providing first-line support and technical assistance to a global network of sales partners. For the past 8 years he has been part of the marketing team, delivering written, pictorial, and video content to support sales initiatives worldwide. His key area of expertise is 3D modelling, especially modelling for manufacture.
