Description

This is an interactive discussion between a large, diverse group of interested parties to further the composites cutting industry. The Composite Team will lead discussion in conjunction with the Sim, OCTO, and Delcam Teams. We will cover the current state of the industry, the future direction of the composites industry, the current state of composites-related design and manufacturing software, and the future direction of composites-related design and manufacturing software (including a streamlined composites manufacturing solution). This session features TruNest Composites and PowerMill.

Anthony Muzzillo is a software quality assurance (SQA) manager at Autodesk, Inc. He has been with Autodesk for 2 years after it acquired his former company, Magestic Systems. Previously, he worked at Magestic Systems for 8 years prior to the acquisition. Muzzillo has been dealing with all of the TruX products for 10 years in total.

Doug Kenik is a product line manager for composite simulation products within Autodesk, Inc. He holds both an MS and a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Wyoming, where he spent his graduate career developing highfidelity micromechanics models for composite material simulation. Prior to working at Autodesk, Kenik spent 5 years as a developer and application engineer at Firehole Composites, where he helped implement new technologies for composite simulation and define nextgeneration enhancements for use within existing products.

As part of the acquisition of Magestic Systems, Michael Spellman is currently serving as director of cutting and composite manufacturing for the Digital Manufacturing Group. Prior to his current role, Spellman served as CTO and was one of the 2 original founders of Magestic, where he helped design, develop, and architect automated nesting, laser projection, and automated tape laying / automated fiber placement (ATL/AFP) systems for some of the largest companies in the world, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, GE Transportation, Airbus, covering various industries such as aerospace, automotive, heavy equipment, and more. Spellman has a background in computer science, electrical engineering, and mathematics from Polytechnic University of New York University.
