In this class you will gain an understanding of a commercial production that uses only computer graphics. This is a 2-part series that will cover the entire process of creating a commercial spec spot for the HBO show Boardwalk Empire. In part 1 you'll see the project kick off from the storyboards phase and proceed through rough animation and visual effects. We will cover some topics that include modeling, texturing, and dynamics. These classes will utilize an array of tools, including 3ds Max software and Chaos Group's V-Ray rendering engine, to bring this piece to life.

Joe Gunn is a senior freelance 3D artist based in New York City with more than 10 years of experience.Although his roots in the business started in Minneapolis, MN, he is now busy working at many different studios throughout the World. Joe's client list includes companies such as Uncharted Territory, Pixomondo, Prime Focus, Aggressive, Blur Studio, Imaginary Forces, Juniper Jones, and many more. In 2009 Joe has been recognized as an Autodesk Master by industry peers. Joe believes in giving back to the CG community with real production based tutorials. He has authored 3 DVD training titles: "Hair 3ds Max Out-ofthe- Box", "mental ray Studio Car Rendering", "Cloth Beyond the Character", and "Rigging for FX. Joe has worked on many different productions from feature films like 2012, Fast 5, and Final Destination 5, to award nominated music videos (Kerli) and more.He always says, "If you don't know, you better ask somebody!"
As a Creative Director and head of 3D for Digital Kitchen, Chad Ashley has conceptualized, directed, animated, and produced work that has earned numerous industry awards, including a Design Grand Prix at the Cannes International Creativity Festival. With over 15 years of experience in 3D, Chad has created worlds for many adventurous brands, including Estée Lauder Companies, Inc.; Budweiser (Anheuser-Busch); and Cartoon Network. Most recently Chad earned a One Show Silver Pencil for his design work at Los Angeles International Airport. Chad also co-owns A&G Tool Company LLC with Joe Gunn. Since 2010 A&G has created production-proven 3ds Max software tools made for artists, by artists.
