This class will teach you how to use the 3 types of Representations in Inventor software assemblies. Representations can control the visibility, the suppression, the position, and several of the other characteristics of components within assemblies. Representations enable you to save specific views of your assembly to prepare for presentations and to create drawings. Proper use of Representations also significantly improves computer performance when dealing with large, complex assemblies.
- Learn how to create and manipulate the 3 types of Representations
- Learn how to determine which type of Representation is most suitable for a given task
- Learn how to improve computer performance and usability of complex assemblies by using Levels of Detail
- Learn how to improve the quality of drawings and live presentations of complex assemblies
Mike spent the first 12-years of his career in the Autodesk channel working for an Autodesk reseller as an Application Specialist. During his travels, he was very fortunate to help solve many issues utilizing Autodesk software. Mike has been using AutoCAD since r13, cut his solid modeling teeth on Mechanical Desktop, and has been using Inventor since before it was known as Inventor. Data Management has always been a big part of his professional life, for the most part with Autodesk Vault. Now he is the Technical Services Manager at Prairie Machine & Parts Mfg (www.pmparts.com) a mining equipment manufacturer. Reporting to the general manager, Mike is responsible for overseeing the company's technical operations and the strategic technical growth. His primary duties include the ongoing support of critical computer systems and programs and the interactions between departments.
I am the CAD department supervisor at Powell Fabrication & Manufacturing in St. Louis, Michigan. I have been working as a mechanical designer and drafter for more than 20 years, using Autodesk, Inc., products for the majority of that time. For the last several years, I have been the lead CAD technician and Vault software administrator at Powell Fab. I have been implementing changes to the company’s document management procedures using Vault Professional software as the main system for life cycle and revision control, and have implimented engineering change orders to control all drawing changes. I was inducted in the first class of Autodesk Expert Elites for my activity on the Autodesk discussion forums and social media, and for my CAD Tips, Tricks & Workarounds blog. I've spoken at Autodesk University 3 times, including a trip to Moscow in 2014 to speak at AU Russia. My specialties are Inventor Tube & Pipe and Frame Generator, Content Center and Vault Professional.
