Using Forge to Improve Manufacturing Processes

For decades, manufacturers have outsourced fabrication of components to smaller companies that specialize in certain processes and technologies. But finding those manufacturing partners has required pushing out product specs to many potential vendors, then vetting their capabilities and their bids to find the right match, a process that often takes weeks or months.

ORDERFOX is revolutionizing this process by enabling buyers to post specs for a given component as a 3D model using the Forge cloud-based platform. CNC shops around the world can then search for appropriate projects and submit a bid. Instead of pushing work out from buyer to vendor, ORDERFOX enables CNC vendors to pull in the projects that match their expertise, saving time and money for everyone involved. The key to the process? Keeping data at the center.

“Finding the right production partners has been really intense, time consuming, and lengthy. What ORDERFOX has been able to do with the integration of Forge into the platform is take that process of finding the right production partner and eliminate the majority of that time.” —Brian J. Smith, President, ORDERFOX

ORDERFOX President Brian J. Smith sat down with us at AU 2018 to share his thoughts on how manufacturing is transforming and how the cloud can create better partnerships and easier collaboration.
