Quick Guide to the New AU Website

Surprise! I’ve been working with other members of the AU team (with special thanks to John Kraft) to change the Autodesk University website’s home page and navigation to make it easier for you to locate classes, articles, and other learning materials that may interest you and to engage with our website in entirely new ways. Here’s a quick summary of the changes:

  • AU News and Updates: We’ve moved news and announcements into a more prominent location to make it easier for you to spot those things that might be important for you, such as registration deadlines, surveys, voting on classes, special events, and other AU offerings.

  • Top Rated Classes: Now you can use keywords to search for classes right from the AU home page. Also, when you are logged in to your AU member account, the Top Rated Classes section is personalized based on the preferences that you indicate in your AU member profile. For example, if you indicated in the “Autodesk Products Used” field in that you use Revit, then top rated classes that have Revit in the class title or the class description will display here.

  • AU Tech Talk Articles: When you are logged in to your AU member account, the AU Tech Talk section is personalized based on the preferences that you indicate in your AU member profile. For example, if you indicated in the “Autodesk Products Used” field in that you use Inventor, then top rated classes that have Inventor in the class title or description will display here.
  • Sign In Changes: We’ve removed the Sign In box from the right sash so we can shift more important information above the fold. Now to sign in, click the link in the upper right corner of any page on the AU site.

  • Changes to Your Profile: To make it more convenient to use and easier to scan, we’ve completely redesigned the section in the right sash that contains your personal AU profile and account information. This section includes notification about messages and contact requests from other members, a summary of the number of members you are connected to, and the link to edit your AU member account. We’ve added a link for the AU Networking page, where you can look up other members and make requests to link up with them. Also the Edit Profile link has been changed to Manage Account.

  • About AU: We’ve added an About AU page that summarizes all of our website features as well as the events that we are offering during the year.
  • New Navigation: We've reorganized the site's main navigation to make it easier to locate online classes, AU events, technical articles, videos, and audio podcasts.
  • AU on YouTube: We’ve added YouTube to our collection of social networking icons at the bottom of all AU website pages.

We hope that these changes will make navigating through the site easier and will increase your ability to find the classes and other learning materials available on the site all year long.
