AIA-Approved Classes at AU Las Vegas

The ways we make and build are changing and we adapt by learning. For architects, that’s nothing new. That’s why the AIA requires licensed architects to collect 18 hours of continuing education learning units (LUs) every year to maintain AIA membership. Individual states have additional requirements. For a course to qualify as an official LU, it must be AIA-approved.

At AU this year, you can choose from hundreds of AIA-approved classes. From AutoCAD to Revit, from tips and tricks to big ideas about the future of architecture and construction, we have you covered.

LUs break down to the quarter hour, so if you take an AIA-approved 90-minute class at AU, that’s 1.5 LUs. To receive your credit, simply sign in with your AIA number as you walk into class and the credit should appear on your AIA transcript within a few days. If you don’t see your credit after 10 days, you can follow up with AIA and give them the name of the class to get credit. Note, however, that these classes do not count toward the quota of 12 Health, Safety, and Wellness LUs also required by the AIA.

Receiving AIA credits while attending AU can be another good point to bring up with your manager or employer when you’re making the case for why they should pick up the tab for your AU experience. Sure, you’re advancing your skills, you’re learning new workflows, gaining new perspectives, and becoming a more valuable team member—that’s all true. And you’re getting in those AIA units that you’d have to get anyway.

Check out these AU sessions that earn you AIA credits. And get more tips and tools to convince your boss to send you to AU.

We’ll see you in Vegas.
