The Revit ecosystem provides powerful capabilities for structural engineering design which go far beyond the basics of drawing production and coordination. This case study will examine the journey of one structural engineering firm to push the limits of how a structural team uses Revit during daily design work. Gabbart and Woods Studio is a structural engineering firm based in Reno, Nevada, specializing in a variety of building types across all major structural materials. The purpose of this project was to pilot and evaluate a new Revit-centered approach for creating and managing structural engineering calculations and construction document production. This session will take you through the entire implementation process, including background and motivation for pursuing new approaches, the practical workflows and software tools that the team used, real-world design projects where new approaches were tested, and key lessons learned from the project.

However, this is just a small part of the business when we consider every other function in the process of manufacturing parts. Consider that 70% of projects are still over budget or late, and up to 40% of engineering time is spent looking for the right files or information. This class will look at how customers are using tools—such as FlexSim, Autodesk Fusion Manage Extension, and Autodesk Fusion Operations—connected together to break down silos between departments, have change control over manufacturing BOMs and process definitions, and predict production issues before they arise. We will show how accurate simulation models based on real-world data can ensure projects remain on time and budget. And we’ll show how a connected data platform and change management platform can ensure data is well connected, reducing the time spent finding the right data.

In this class, you’ll discover multiple routes for generating Frame Generator Reference Files. And you’ll see how they can be integrated into top-level assemblies efficiently—where information from reference files can also be used to drive downstream design tasks where associativity between components and assemblies are important and change may occur throughout the design lifecycle. The class will also touch on new and updated workflows where model states and simplification tools can be used to manage assemblies and generate associative BIM-ready models, required by different or cross-industry design teams. In this hands-on lab, we’ll explore the tools and workflows that helped Elara Aerospace design a launch-ready, record-breaking rocket built to survive the extreme forces of spaceflight. You’ll follow guided exercises in Autodesk Fusion software, learning how to harness both generative design and topology optimization to reduce mass, increase strength, and improve overall performance under tight constraints. We’ll walk through how to define loads, constraints, and materials. We’ll cover how to interpret and compare outcomes. And we’ll explore post-process geometry for manufacturability. In this session, we'll discuss how Woodway converts its engineering bill of materials (eBOM) into its manufacturing BOM (mBOM) using the mBOM Editor in Autodesk Fusion Manage software. We'll then show how we partnered with coolOrange to develop a workflow, and which tools we used, to send these BOMs to our enterprise resource planning (ERP).
