By Managers, for Managers

Are you a CAD, BIM, or Engineering manager? If so, you know how lonely it can be sometimes. The upcoming Design Technology Manager’s Conference (DTMC) will give you a chance to trade “war stories” and learn from others just like you.

Last year's conference brought together over 300 managers, who spent the day teaching each other tips, tricks, and strategies for managing people, processes, and technology. We've got plans to make this year’s DTMC even bigger and better.

A Chance to Be with and Learn from Others Like You

At a recent web briefing, DTMC 2010 instructor Robert Green said that most technology managers can't find five people who do what they do, so being in a room with 300 or in an unconference session with 20 is a huge opportunity to learn and share.

“It didn't matter what industry they were in, we all had the same problems. It led to a real sense of camaraderie,” Green said.

2010 conference attendees tweeted (pdf – 225Kb) during the conference and prepared Guru Briefs (pdf – 131Kb) to share their collective wisdom.

What's Planned for 2011?

  • Program activities and a networking reception on Sunday, November 27, followed by a full day of classes and unconference sessions on Monday, November 28.
  • More topics of interest for all managers. More unconference sessions to enable more interactive learning among managers. Additional main stage presentations.

What Can You Do?

  • Take the DTMC content survey. Tell us what topics and trends are impacting your business and what you would like to hear discussed at the event. It will help us shape the conference and you could win a free pass.
  • Submit a proposal. If you have something you can teach, or you'd like to lead an unconference session on a particular topic, it's not too late. Hurry, though, the call for proposals closes May 6.
