Find Your People at AU—From Community Quads to Campus Lounges
AU is all about learning, but it’s also about finding your people and connecting with your community. Often, that means finding colleagues and peers who do what you do, build what you build, make what you make. After all, these are the folks tackling similar challenges and exploring common approaches, experiencing similar disruptions and finding common solutions. At the end of the day, it’s another important way to learn and advance. Because at AU, everyone’s a leader and everyone’s a learner.
This year, we’ve created a number of ways to meet your people and connect. Call it networking, call it knowledge sharing, call it socializing, it’s a big part of what makes AU matter, and this year it’ll be easier than ever.
Community Quads in the Expo
In the Expo you can experience firsthand how professionals like yourself are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible to imagine, design, and make a better world. And this year, you can connect with others in your industry at dedicated spaces within the Expo. You’ll find a dedicated space, or Quad, for Design & Manufacturing, one for Architecture & Engineering, one for Construction & Fabrication, and another for Software Developers and the Forge community. Anytime the Expo is open, stop by the Quads to connect with colleagues, participate in Autodesk Leadership Listening sessions, and more.
You’ll find a schedule of structured meetups listed in each Quad when you’re on-site. In general, Tuesday meetups will focus on industry-relevant topics. Wednesday will be more product and technology focused, so if you’re a Revit user planning to wear your purple pride, do it Wednesday. Thursday will cap off the week with meetups that encourage connections based on your role, from CAD and BIM manager to industrial designer, visualization specialist, and beyond.
Industry Meetups in Campus Lounges
We’ve also turned to community leaders to host informal one-hour sessions for like-minded professionals. Whether it’s a Revit user group you’re looking for or a community of practice for BIM practitioners and professionals, these informal sessions are opportunities to meet people piqued by a few select topics. Some are more like focus groups, others are more like roundtables, but they’re all a chance for the community to lead, share knowledge, and exchange perspectives on the best ways to adapt.
These industry meetups will be hosted in dedicated networking spaces—Campus Lounges—nestled among the classrooms at AU. When the Campus Lounges aren’t hosting scheduled meetups, they’ll be great spaces to duck into for peer-to-peer connections, lingering conversations with AU speakers, or checking that mounting email. Here are just a few of the many meetups happening during AU Las Vegas this year:
Troubleshooting Revit Models—Corrupt models? Let’s talk about it—how it happens, why it happens, and what you can do. From model maintenance to user education, learn how to make sure everyone on your team can keep things clean.
Overcoming Fear of Evolving Technology—Change is a part of life, especially in engineering today. How are your peers adapting? Join other engineers to share workflows, approaches, and insights on new platforms like Forge.
Digital Collaboration and Its Impact on BIM Utilization—Construction happens through collaboration—that’s just a fact. Get together with others in your industry to talk about how teams are working together better using new platforms and tools.
Interested in other meetups for industry audiences? There are many more on the docket. Find the meetup that matches your focus.
