Project Ottoman "The Impossible is Closer than Ever"

Project Ottoman "The Impossible is Closer than Ever"

Customer challenge

Central Studio Post Inc. is a post-production company based in the Philippines with a team that has been collaborating with the country’s top commercial directors and their clients for the past eight years. As the pandemic happened, Central Studio Post Inc. needed to work on an entirely different workflow as they now worked remotely. License assignment and collaboration among Artists is crucial to be able to finish "Project Ottoman" on time.

Project goals

Project Ottoman is a unique ad that situates the narrative in the not too distant future where emerging technologies are already being realized and integrated in the everyday lives of people. The director envisioned the film to be grounded in our current reality but infused with future technology that does not yet exist but still communicates that “The impossible is closer than ever”. The goal is to make the ad future realistic and finish the project on time despite the lockdown.

Solution

For certain scenes, there is a need to maintain a delicate balance between what is real and what is generated whilst still having an ethereal feel. To accomplish this, the live footage in Autodesk Flame needs to be tweaked replacing structures with a wider scene and creating a stylized look, enough to make it feel natural but special. Gaming and 3D elements were added and modeled in Autodesk Maya to add to the surrealism of the scenes while animating and designing in Autodesk 3DS Max.

Business outcome

Working on Project Ottoman is definitely one of Central Studio Post’s highlights this year. The whole team is grateful for the trust and confidence that their clients gave them to be able to deliver a showcase project like this amidst extraordinary circumstances using the latest version of 3DS Max, Maya and Flame. The technical support Challenge System Inc provided to CSP helped them adapt a new workflow that allows remote collaboration seamlessly resulting in 100% productivity.

Conclusion

Central Studio Post was able to deliver a showcase project on time amidst extraordinary circumstances with the help of Autodesk Solutions and Challenge Systems Inc.'s professional services.
