With increasing demands of residential buildings, DMCI Homes must speed up project delivery at the most efficient time and with the most effective resources while competing with its toughest rivals in the market. An on-time delivery of projects despite design changes was directed by Top Management. Innovations and Value Engineering activities were required during the design stage. All of these requirements have a major impact on the production process.

Project goals

DMCI identified the following priority project goals: 1) Improve the project schedule through rapid iterations and detailed coordination of systems and 2) Deliver a coordinated “For Construction Drawings” to our Construction Team free of errors and design conflicts

Solution

DMCI Homes chose Autodesk products as their design and coordination tool. DMCI Homes uses Revit as a collaborative platform, Navisworks to streamline the design and coordination process, and BIM 360 to enable the Construction Team to access their models. Shellsoft, with the commitment and support of DMCI Homes BIM Manager Ms. Bennet Cancino, provided product trainings, workshops and hand holding activities to ensure customer success.

Business outcome

With the implementation and adoption of BIM processes, there has been improvements in collaboration between DMCI team members. Significant improvements included the increased communication of design intent as the Team visualized 3D models, reduced rework due to avoided errors and conflicts resolved during clash analysis, and a significant reduction in the number of RFIs by 50%.
