Success Story

BIMaire to get "Framed"

BIMaire to get "Framed"

Customer challenge

BIMaire, a Berkshire Hathaway company, provides the highest quality, most affordable drafting, sales collateral, and virtual experiences to the North American home building industry. BIMaire was looking for a solution to strengthen their home building manufacturing solutions.

Project goals

BIMaire had three goals they were looking to achieve: 1) Find a Solution Provider experienced with developing solutions on Autodesk products. 2) Implement a framing solution that integrated with their preferred Autodesk solution, AutoCAD Architecture. 3) Implement a framing solution that would provide framed models, bill of materials, manufacturing drawings and send data to their saw cut machines efficiently.

Solution

The COINS development team met with BIMaire and performed a needs analysis, process review and a function specification to develop a 3rd party tool for AutoCAD Architecture. COINS was able to offer BIMaire an application that took advantage of AutoCAD Architecture's “object-oriented technology” that met all three of their goals.

Business outcome

Upon completion of the project, BIMaire will be integrating the framing application into their manufacturing processes that will allow them to save time and money by improving data communication to the manufacturing plant, optimizing material used in construction and producing clear and understandable manufacturing drawings.

Conclusion

The framing solution that COINS provided will allow for BIMaire to provide a solution to greatly improves their construction processes in the homebuilding industry.

SHM Architects Growth Enhanced by Autodesk Revit and Construction Cloud

SHM Architects, a privately owned boutique design studio founded in 2005 serving clients across the United States with a consistently growing number of bespoke projects and designers, realized a need to move from localized design teams using AutoCAD Architecture to Revit and the Autodesk Construction Cloud, as well as to align with their peer's digital transformations from simple drawings to a BIM workflow. The firm, which had worked with AutoCAD Architecture for so long, was concerned that internal teams initially would not see the reasons to make a change, and understood their associates worried about a learning curve disrupting project timelines and interrupting productivity. SHM Architects, therefore, engaged COINS, their long-time Autodesk Solution Provider, to develop a plan to introduce Revit and BIM to the firm as it quickly grew in size.
