In this class, we will present a general overview of the tools and features of AutoCAD Structural Detailing software as they can be applied to process and power piping design. You will learn about the workflow in AutoCAD Structural Detailing and how to add and remove profiles from the working set of profiles. Finally, you will learn how to generate a structure model and detail drawings.

In this class, we will introduce you to the programming language Python. You will learn how to set up a simple development environment and create a few basic scripts. Next, you will learn to install and test the scripts with AutoCAD Plant 3D software. Come and learn how to use scripting to create custom objects for use in AutoCAD Plant 3D.

Large process-plant refurbishments present a host of unique problems to engineers tasked with documenting the existing as-built conditions. New technologies such as ReCap Pro software, automated feature extraction, and others can result in a faster, more accurate deliverable, but engineers need to fully understand the workflow changes that these technologies require. This class, taught by a panel of experts in plant workflows, will highlight several new technologies, such as ReCap Pro software, and it will show you the ways to integrate these technologies into a plant scanning and modeling project.

In this class, you will learn how to create and customize a sample AutoCAD P&ID software project. We will show you how to customize a title block to include company information, modify AutoCAD P&ID to use your own layering system, and create company blocks for your project. The class will cover how class structure affects symbol creation and how dynamic block tools work with AutoCAD P&ID. You will also learn how to work with project fields and find out where project settings are stored.

In this round-table discussion we will briefly give an overview of the Autodesk, Inc., engagement in the various industry consortia and the existing interfaces for the process plant industry and the oil and gas industry. We would like to learn which interfaces and data formats you're using when you exchange PIDs, line lists, bills of materials, 3D piping, steel, and equipment models with all the associated data. Which interface are you using to receive data from FEED (front end engineering design) and to hand over to stress calculation, project management, and procurement system? The simulation will cover the setup of a rotational symmetric nonlinear static simulation with a nonlinear material model, hyperelastic or plastic elastic model. The sealing application will have several parts made from nonlinear polymeric materials where it’s essential to have a good set of material data and the presentation will show examples of this. The different parts in the application will have multiple contact areas where it is important to select the correct face to face setup for frictional, penetration and stabilization of the contact. The simulation will also show how to use multiple subcases to facilitate additional loading with a temperature increase and a hydraulic pressure build up. This simulation will give a good impression of the initial deformation of the loaded parts.

First, this class will explain why we need data from the database when acquisition rules won’t do it. You will hear about the limitations of acquisition rules, and you’ll see several examples of how data can flow between AutoCAD P&ID software objects. We will also explain why customers needed the various data flows for their daily work. You will see examples of data flowing between instruments, even if those instruments are in different AutoCAD P&ID drawings. And we will show how the Views in your AutoCAD P&ID database look, and how you can use them in your AutoCAD P&ID drawing with PlantLink so the data actually flow. We will show you how easy it is to get your pipe spec data into P&ID and how you can use it to create bills of materials from P&ID. Do you want flanges, gaskets, and/or collars with your P&ID? No problem—use the P&ID drawings as the basis for your 3D piping and have the P&ID symbols and 3D piping elements linked and constantly compared against each other for inconsistencies.
