Reality Capture has been in the industry since the late 1990’s where it has evolved from it’s tripod-based roots into encompassing many different forms of data capture of today. One could easily make an argument that Reality Capture has also grown from a handful of sensors to now a wide variety of processes. Regardless of where the data comes from, there has been one consistent and constant challenge that professionals still face. What to do with the volumes of data Reality Capture creates and how to make meaningful deliverables. This session will look at a brief history of Reality Capture as well as provide insight on how Leica CloudWorx continues to provide powerful tools for converting massive point cloud data into meaningful 3D models, 2D CAD drawings, and topographic deliverables. Furthermore, many tools in Leica CloudWorx serve as enhancements to the standard CAD tools that are in the various Autodesk suite of software packages.

WSP Canada's Journey to Success Using BIM for Bridges

As infrastructure projects become increasingly complex, the adoption of BIM for bridge design and construction has become essential. This session will provide a deep dive into our organization’s BIM journey, showcasing how we transitioned from traditional design workflows to an integrated digital approach. We’ll discuss the challenges we faced, the solutions we implemented, and the innovations we developed to optimize collaboration, accuracy, and efficiency in bridge modeling. Demonstrating the evolution of our methodology, we’ll highlight our progression from manual modeling to parametric workflows using Civil 3D, Revit, and Dynamo—and ultimately to advanced modeling with Revit, including in-house developed add-ins, Dynamo, and SOFiSTiK Bridge and Infrastructure Modeler. You’ll gain valuable insights into best practices, software interoperability, and the future of BIM on infrastructure projects.

Building Blocks: The Key to Unlocking Efficiency When Optimizing Your Collaboration for Civil 3D Implementation

The concept of building blocks offers a powerful analogy for the evolution of a Collaboration for Civil 3D implementation. It starts with essential building blocks as the foundation, and they are assembled incrementally to create a complex structure. This structured yet adaptable approach enables delivery of value while preparing for future growth, positioning organizations to lead and innovate with resilience in a rapidly evolving Project Delivery landscape. In this session, we’ll discuss how GHD reconfigured its foundational building blocks to create a stable base for adopting new technologies and methodologies, and to foster innovation. We’ll cover topics such as effective cloud data management, fine-tuning existing projects for better performance, and how important technical frameworks and governance are to ensure long-term success. Additionally, we’ll discuss how standardized workflows achieved faster model opening times, reduced infrastructure costs, and enhanced teamwork.

Building the Foundation for Asset Intelligence Through the Connected Data Environment

Your data is rich with insights—but it takes cross-discipline collaboration to see the entire picture. In this session with Autodesk and the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), we’ll discuss the value of data integration at the system level bringing together design, construction, and asset management. Autodesk and MDT are working collaboratively with Esri, Trimble, and Infotech to develop a connected data environment using workflows and technology. In this session, you’ll learn how MDT is using AASHTOWare Project, Civil 3D software, Trimble Business Center, and Esri technology to develop a lifecycle Project Delivery approach for civil infrastructure projects.

ACC for Civil Infrastructure Projects: It's What Highly Productive BIM Coordinators and CAD Managers Crave

This interactive lab will be an accelerator that will teach BIM coordinators and CAD managers how to effectively use Autodesk Forma to manage civil infrastructure projects with modern cloud-based tools. We’ll take an immersive approach to learning: The class will be split up into disciplines, simulating a real project. The disciplines will work together to federate a project model using preprepared files. We’ll start with the basics of recommended file organization in Forma Data Management, set up our coordination space in Modeling, walk through best practices for exporting and coordinating discipline-specific models, run a mock clash-detection meeting, create/organize and report on our Autodesk Forma Issues, and then archive our project simulating a milestone submittal. Many of the default coordination tools in Autodesk Forma are built with vertical construction in mind. But there’s a world of value for horizontal construction as well—you just have to know how to unlock it!

Digital Project Delivery: The Keystone to a Sustainable Built Environment

Sustainable Design is a pipe dream if you cannot accurately predict, model, and monitor your building’s content and energy usage. Without digital project delivery focused on the specific needs of the building end use—not the needs of national or international standards—we cannot even begin to accurately and predictably lower the energy used by and embodied within our built assets. By using products such as Autodesk Forma alongside traditional delivery tools such as Revit and Civil 3D software, the Buro Happold Information Management team are driving Sustainable Design without uttering the word. By breaking BIM down into its constituent parts, we’re able to work with our clients to create a project data standard that takes the guesswork out of designing, building, and operating a building—and feeds the future by ensuring that we have a stock of buildings that can tell us how good our decisions were and if they’re operating as we hoped they would.
