Description
It is estimated that 80% of the environmental impact is determined at the design phase, however many designers are lacking the tools to assess the impact of their design choices. In addition, an increasing number of companies are setting up ambitious sustainability goals but the data required to drive the actions, are often in disparate systems throughout the organization, or kept in PLM and PDM systems, which means that designs are already locked up. Autodesk & Makersite collaborated to bring sustainability insights into early product design phases, by connecting relevant Life Cycle Assessment data to the Fusion360 design workspace. A more holistic workflow has been created to provide even more insights into sustainable design, directly within the design environment. The analysis can also recommend material alternatives and provide costing information to help designers make more sustainable decisions, faster, with greater impact.
