Description
In this session, we share how Heijmans and Autodesk moved MCPs from innovation pilots to real business value in the construction industry. After 1.5 years of working with Autodesk Model Context Protocol (MCP), Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and custom MCP clients, we focus on what it takes to scale MCPs in daily workflows. Attendees will learn how we combined custom-built and off‑the‑shelf MCP servers to reduce administrative tasks, connect data across systems, and support engineers and site teams with a personal assistant (JARVIS). We'll discuss architectural decisions, key challenges, lessons learned, and show live examples of MCPs delivering measurable value on real projects.
Key Learnings
- identify where Autodesk MCP servers (custom vs. off the shelf) can deliver measurable business value within ACC.
- design an MCP client that integrates project data, reduces administrative effort, and supports engineers in daily tasks.
- compare architectural choices for implementing MCPs, including when to build custom MCP servers
- assess common adoption and scaling challenges when moving MCPs from pilot use cases to production-ready solutions
