May + Russell Architects – License Optimization & Project Collaboration

May + Russell Architects – License Optimization & Project Collaboration

Customer challenge

May + Russell Architects and its founding Directors have continually provided architectural services to the community of Canberra for over 50 years. In addition to Autodesk Maya, May + Russell appreciate there are administrative and cost efficiencies in having Digistor also manage their Autodesk Architecture Engineering & Construction entitlements within the organization. Further we wanted to rationalize multiple expiry dates for numerous contract dates historically created whenever May + Russell on-boarded new staff.

Project goals

There are few goals that May + Russell Architects has to their advantages. Such as, simplify enablement for new staff to access corporate licensing. Not to mention, the cost reductions via license optimization by utilizing the Autodesk Architecture Engineering & Construction Collection as the standard software across all staff members. Next would be consolidate license entitlements to common renewal dates and adding co-authoring access for projects via Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro. This could be dedicated May + Russell Administrator for Autodesk related transactions. All these could maintain a single organizational view of all Autodesk assets

Solution

A single Digistor contact for procurement ensures that May + Russell can on-board new staff as required at more economical annual license costs versus ad-hoc monthly pricing. During consultation it was also determined that May + Russell could optimize their Autodesk Architecture Engineering & Construction Collection license entitlements via the Multi-user Trade-in offer and this enabled immediate cost reduction with the additional benefit of accurate budgeting for future renewal costs. Additionally Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro allows their Autodesk Revit and 3D users to access collaborative project data to further streamline workflows. Remote users no longer need to access May + Russell servers for licensing as the change to the Named User model enables users to access their assigned software from any device.

Business outcome

May + Russell now have two aligned Autodesk Subscription contracts for their Autodesk Architecture Engineering & Construction Collection and Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro entitlements which enables additional seats to be added more economically on a pro-rata basis when required, resulting in cost reductions due to licensing efficiencies suggested by Digistor

Conclusion

May + Russell have achieved significant cost savings over several years initially by the early adoption of the Maintenance to Subscription offer for their Autodesk Architecture Engineering & Construction Collection licenses as recommended by Digistor and more recently the transition from Networked to Name User licensing using the 2:1 offer from Autodesk Additionally, May + Russell have enabled team access to project data allowing their remote designers to deliver workflows and insights on a unified platform with Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro.
