As an engineering firm dedicated to this market, we address our client needs throughout the life of the rail assets, from transport planning to operations and maintenance. During this class, we will share with you SYSTRA’s vision of this digital transformation and how digital innovation drives our digital strategy, from digital solution for transport planning to digital asset management services. We will focus on Hyperasset, our program to develop in-house solutions to manage the rail assets during the operations and maintenance phase, from the territorial scale down to the catenary object, using all the available technology such as the Forge platform.

This session will discuss how building information modeling (BIM) should fit into a company’s digital transformation strategy, drawing on the experiences and lessons learned from undertaking this exercise at multidisciplinary design consultancy Khatib & Alami (K&A). For K&A, BIM has been well-established across all types of building projects since 2011. In 2018, we developed a further road map to drive quality and consistency across all levels of the organization as part of the company’s digital transformation. This road map included assessing current staff; building a strong team of modelers, auditors, and developers to achieve an internal critical mass; implementing BIM across all four K&A design centers; and ensuring one consistent set of standards, in accordance with ISO 19650. BIM implementation has been a cornerstone of K&A’s digital transformation, and its success has established strong momentum across the wider program.

Where are we four years after the launch of ISO 19650? Digital transformation is accelerating as we speak, and standards are coming to make our life easier. Everyone wants to be the first runner and the best in class. But how do we cope with this speed and get the job done? This class will give an example of SYSTRA digital transformation strategy and the effort needed to launch the implementation of ISO 19650 on both the organizational and project levels. We’ll give an overview of the lessons learned and describe "must" actions to be deployed. We’ll uncover how ISO 19650 served to ramp up our digital engineering and data management capabilities, and how it pushed us to invest in development of our own digital solutions based on Autodesk Forge. We’ll also briefly present their implementation on different ongoing projects. To conclude, we’ll look at the direction we are heading right now on our digital transformation journey.
