Sustainability is slowly but surely climbing up on the priority list of many of our customers, and Autodesk has already created several products that can enable and enhance their sustainability workflows. Traditionally, these solutions are mostly point-to-point integrations that rely heavily on third-party data sets. In order to support the growing demand for scalable sustainability solutions, we've built a new Sustainability Data API on Autodesk Platform Services that enables rapid third-party data set integrations. In this session, we'll explain how this works and show you how this API is being used within Autodesk products.

Applications built on Forge software can allow for greater levels of visibility and transparency around sustainability measures by integrating sustainability parameters—such as greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency, and so on—into the design-and-make process through a common data environment with 3D models. This class will introduce Forge application developers and customers to the opportunity of developing Forge applications that capitalize on the data of BIM (Building Information Modeling) or engineering models to improve outcomes along these sustainability parameters, or to make sophisticated design choices for better buildings or products with less negative environmental impact. This class will include examples of Forge for sustainability applications, case studies, industry insights, innovative ideas, and experiences from the AEC and D&M industries.

Our solution democratizes sustainable design, construction, and operations through a live, collaborative platform solution, linking Envision Sustainability Guidelines and Principles with industry best practices and workflows. It aims to document practices, providing guidance across multiple dimensions of sustainability throughout the entire civil infrastructure project lifecycle.

We are in a climate emergency, and urgently need to reduce our footprints. The architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry is the biggest violator of sustainable practices, accounting for 45% of all energy consumption and 75% of US electrical consumption. We in the AEC industry have the largest room for impact, because informed BIM (Building Information Modeling) designers can shape a better world! We will look into sustainable design practices and how to help your firm create and design better buildings by equipping your teams with the knowledge to improve efficiency from the early design phase throughout the lifecycle of the building and the whole process, utilizing BIM workflows. We will discuss the issues and why immediate action is required in the way we design to help combat the global crisis. Since 80% of carbon is already locked into a product by the decisions made at the design phase, making good design and manufacturing choices is key to producing products with lower carbon impact. However, today, designers and engineers lack the data and tools to inform their design and manufacturing decisions, all while new and upcoming regulations are forcing designers and manufacturers to produce their products in more-sustainable ways. To tackle this issue, this talk will introduce Autodesk's new Manufacturing Sustainability Insights tool. Created in partnership with Gravity Climate, this interactive manufacturing-impact exploration tool for Autodesk Fusion 360 will provide users with valuable insights into the carbon emissions associated with producing their designs via various manufacturing methods, enabling users to make better informed decisions that support sustainable manufacturing practices, resulting in better products for the planet.

This year, Autodesk is expanding its impact. We’ve made significant progress toward our own internal sustainability goals, achieving net-zero emissions across our business and value chain, pledging a 50% reduction in our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2031, and investing in change makers through the Autodesk Foundation. However, we know that the real change happens when our customers shift their businesses to sustainability. Our new Sustainability Consulting Practice is designed to do just that. We’ve assembled a small and nimble team of sustainability experts across the globe to help solve our customers' most pressing issues related to energy, materials, health, resilience, work, and prosperity. Nevertheless, many small and medium-sized businesses (which account for nearly all businesses) have yet to take advantage of these opportunities. Let's pinpoint the issue. Client pressure, a lack of knowledge and resources, or simply not knowing where to start are all issues. This workshop will bring together manufacturing industry thought leaders to help them discover more-sustainable processes and apply early, predictive, and real-time analysis. For years, companies have been investing in sustainability initiatives like reduced energy consumption and efficient use of resources. At the outset of a Revit project, it is crucial to define a clear process and workflow. The current pressing issue of sustainability in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry is changing the way buildings are designed and made. The Autodesk Factory Experience at AU is where attendees get a hands-on experience of the concept-to-production process using Autodesk Fusion software. Last year, the Autodesk team designed and developed a customizable keypad for Autodesk apps, using PCBs, 3D printing, injection molding, and sheet fabrication. Attendees had explored the mini-factory floor and tailored their own keypads with computer numerical control (CNC)-engraved keys with frequently used Autodesk app commands. The AU 2024 Factory Experience: Keypad 2.0 Sustainability Redesign is focused on Autodesk's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency in manufacturing. Modern manufacturing technology has given designers a large selection of possible avenues for the manufacturing of a component. However, with this variety, it’s difficult to know which method would provide the most-sustainable results. By maximizing manufacturing sustainability metrics, in this session, we’ll showcase how Autodesk Fusion 360 users can select a manufacturing workflow to ensure a reduced impact for their manufactured component. Focusing on additive, subtractive, and hybrid manufacturing workflows, our case study will highlight how to use manufacturing energy consumption and waste metrics to select the most sustainable manufacturing method for designs. Furthermore, this session will dive into ongoing research on how these decisions can be made within the design phase of product development, through maximizing predictive manufacturing energy and waste models.
