Create Complex Geometry Using Revit and Dynamo & Project Coordination with NavisWorks

Customer challenge

A&A Architects is an innovative architectural studio with a wide range of projects in the field of architectural and urban design. A&A Architects have designed two of the tallest skyscrapers and other iconic buildings in Bulgaria. The design team includes 15 architects and over 80 other specialists – Interior Designers, Structural, MEP and Civil Engineers allocated in subcontracting companies. “In every project, А&A Architects seek to create additional value to the location, combining the specific client requirements with aesthetic ideas and features of the context. Over the time studio’s designs have become more complex and time consuming and we feel the necessity of powerful BIM workflow to rely on,” said arch. Angel Zahariev – one of the founders of А&A Architects.

Project goals

А&A Architects desire that the BIM software combines complex design and flexibility to make quick changes without costly errors. There has to be also coordination flow with other engineers and construction companies.

Solution

With the help of Autodesk Solution Provider CAD Point, A&A Architects started using Dynamo with Revit and created a cohesive workflow between BIM and the complex geometry of the buildings. Revit is the most powerful BIM tool and Dynamo adds the enormous advantage of making complex forms parametric inside Revit. The company architects communicated with a Revit central file and exchanged BIM models with other engineering companies which led to an easier and safer workflow. Coordination was also made through Autodesk Navisworks so to check eventual problems before construction.

Business outcome

The adopted BIM workflow saves time and efforts and is much more reliable. Revit, Dynamo and Navisworks can be used in every complex architectural project, BIM models can be exchanged with other teams and checked for collisions to avoid costly errors.

Conclusion

"Now we can design quickly and more flexible every complex geometry, foresee eventual errors and be sure for the final success,” said arch. Angel Zahariev, CEO of A&A Architects.

Koliba Studio with a Smooth Visualization Workflow in 3ds Max

Koliba Studio is an architectural visualization studio founded in 2014 by arch. Marin Lalov and is based in Sofia, Bulgaria. “We strive for fully captivating photo realistic 3D renderings and animations. Our unique working process allows us to capture the smallest details and connects the beauty of the surrounding world to the most enchanting 3D special effects.” Arch. Marin Lalov also said that they create everything from basic sketches to sophisticated 3D renderings, interactive virtual tours, so that the clients could have a crystal vision of the design. Koliba Studio also works with several architectural companies who use 3D software tools, so the studio decided to find an appropriate way to incorporate the 3D architectural models directly in Autodesk 3ds Max.
