Learn Computational BIM at AU 2018

Building Information Modeling (BIM) turns design ideas into data. And once it’s data, there’s a lot you can do with it. Computational BIM is the practice of manipulating BIM models with logic, geometry, math, and visual programming to create complex architectural forms and designs that might otherwise be impossible. And the Computational BIM Workshops at AU are a great opportunity to develop your skills.

Beginner and Developer Workshops
Choose from 2 different workshops based on your current skill level. The Beginner Workshop introduces what you can do with a Revit document in Dynamo and how you can make Dynamo interoperate with other data sources and applications. It’s designed for those with cursory experience with programming and scripting, but even if you’re totally new to the subject, this is the place to start.

The Developer Workshop is for those who already use Dynamo and want to take their skills further. You’ll learn the basics of extensions during the first part of the workshop, then go deeper on the extension topic of your choice in breakout sessions.

Scheduling Options
You can register for either Computational BIM Workshop as a Monday AU preconference by purchasing a $300 pass. Both workshops include a networking lunch, forum, and Computational BIM Beer Bust at the end of the day, so you can connect with other learners—and experts, too. You can then extend your computational design skills during AU Las Vegas 2018 with either a Tuesday Conference Pass ($450) or a Full Conference Pass ($1,750 with early bird discount). AU runs November 13-15 this year.

In addition, the Beginner Computational BIM Workshop is also available on Wednesday at AU and is included with a Full Conference Pass. This allows you to choose the AU sessions you like on Tuesday and Thursday, then get focused on computational design on Wednesday, while also enjoying access to the keynotes, Expo, and networking opportunities that happen throughout the week. Without computational BIM, there are some forms that are simply too complex to design. With it, almost anything is possible—if you have the skills. Set yourself apart and bring more value to your team with the learning available at an AU Computational BIM Workshop.
