Shapes in the cloud
Got your head in the cloud? If you’re a designer or maker of things, that’s actually a great place to be. The cloud makes both CAD and CAM more powerful, more accessible, and it simplifies collaboration, too. That means more people can do it. And that’s good for the world.
ICYMI, Autodesk CEO and President Carl Bass took pen to paper (fingers to keyboard?) last week to discuss the future of CAD/CAM and the transition to the cloud. Autodesk offers several cloud-based tools that allow you to harness the power of cloud computing, and access from any device, anywhere: Fusion 360, AutoCAD 360, and Autodesk 360. We even have a cool web-based tool for kids, Tinkercad.
To quote Carl:
“Let’s…explore what the cloud is good for when it comes to design and engineering. First and foremost, the cloud provides access to nearly infinite and scalable computing power at reasonable costs. In the world of engineering, this is incredibly powerful.”
Of Autodesk’s cloud offerings and vision, Carl says:
“We built an ecosystem so that people could share and collaborate on their work with increasingly distributed design teams and supply chains…for solving the complexities of today’s design teams."

Now back to work, makers of the world. Because wherever you are, the cloud is a great place to create.
