AU 2026 Call for Proposals: Tips and tricks

AI is transforming how the world designs and makes. But turning that potential into impact takes more than a strong idea. If you are planning to submit for AU 2026, this is your guide to building a strong proposal.

How to make your proposal stand out

Only about 12 percent of proposals were selected last year. Reviewers are looking for sessions that deliver clear value, align with industry priorities, and leave attendees with something they can use.

  • Lead with practical takeaways. Hands-on Labs and Product Demos consistently earn the highest satisfaction scores because they teach something concrete. If your session helps someone improve a workflow or build a skill they can use right away, you are on the right track.

  • Go deep rather than broad. High-level overviews often fall short, while stronger proposals clearly explain what attendees will learn and how it applies to day-to-day work.

  • Make your abstract clear and specific. Reviewers should quickly understand who the session is for, what it covers, and why it matters.

  • Originality goes a long way. The most compelling proposals are grounded in real experience and told in an authentic voice. Speak in your own voice and share what you have learned, what worked, and what did not. Proposals that rely heavily on generic or AI-generated language without specific examples or depth tend to fall short.

And this year, consider adding the optional video pitch. A short 15 to 20 second video helps bring your idea to life and gives reviewers a sense of your clarity and energy.

How proposals are selected

Every submission goes through an extensive review process. Reviewers assess alignment with industry topics and audience, along with business outcomes and new ways of working. They also evaluate creativity, engagement, and how the content supports year-round learning initiatives.

Successful proposals tell a clear story. Start with an attention-grabbing opening that establishes your topic and explains why it matters. Then outline the challenges or pain points, and close with key learnings and outcomes. At every stage, answer the question: why will this specific audience care? A creative and catchy title is always a great way to stand out too.

Make your proposal count

A great proposal is not just about what you know. It is about how clearly and authentically you can share it. Focus on real experiences. Be specific. Show impact. And most importantly, think about the value your audience will walk away with.

The deadline to submit is April 7. There’s still time to refine your proposal and make it count.
