Forma Site Design Product details
Housing tool
Plan low-density housing with speed and flexibility with Forma Site Design's Housing tool. With this design automation, you can place homes with just a few clicks, then adjust spacing, orientation, and layout to suit your site. You can test massing, iterate fast, and make confident decisions before moving to schematic design.
Area analysis
With Area metrics, you get instant feedback on how your design decisions affect key site stats, tailored to regional context. The numbers update automatically, so you can easily keep track when iterating multiple options and meet your floor area targets with confidence. No more manual spreadsheets.
Sun hours analysis
Easily check sun conditions on your site for passive design with the Sun hours analysis. You can easily see the number of sun hours that reach façades and ground level at specific times of day and year. It gives easy-to-understand visuals to inform design decisions, whether it’s to increase winter sun on façades or shade on public outdoor areas.
Daylight potential analysis
Quickly assess the daylight performance of your projects with the Daylight potential analysis. It generates a Sky Component score to highlight areas with poor or limited daylight potential, making it easier to meet daylight requirements and optimize design decisions to improve daylight conditions.
Wind analysis
See how wind moves through your site and reacts to your massing with Forma Site Design's Wind analysis. Offering both rapid (real-time machine learning predictions) and detailed (simulation) analyses, it shows wind speed and direction, and pedestrian comfort, helping optimize your design to avoid unwanted wind conditions.
Microclimate analysis
Make informed decisions about thermal comfort early in the design process with the Microclimate analysis. It combines sun, daylight, and wind data with local weather to calculate perceived temperature, so you can adapt your design to the local climate conditions for optimal outdoor spaces.
Total carbon analysis
Forma Carbon Insights, built into Forma Site Design*, brings embodied, operational, and total carbon analysis into early site planning — evaluate carbon impacts while exploring layouts and design alternatives without leaving the design environment. Total carbon results appear directly in Forma Site Design, with dashboards available for deeper analysis and collaboration.
Noise analysis
Use Forma Site Design's Noise analysis to understand noise conditions on your site with rapid or detailed options. Rapid analysis provides instant machine learning predictions during design, while detailed analysis uses simulations to evaluate how traffic and design choices affect noise across scenarios.
Solar energy analysis
Gain immediate insights into the annual solar energy potential of your building, helping you maximize solar energy production and meet sustainability goals. Integrated with your massing model, Forma Site Design's Solar Energy Analysis responds to any geometry added to your project and factors in terrain, vegetation, buildings, and climate.
Shadow study
Easily see how your building and surroundings cast shadow on your site to identify and address overshadowing issues faster. The Shadow study extension allows you to select a time range, date, and interval to generate a shadow study consisting of screenshots of the proposal at selected sun positions for the given times. This analysis simplifies a typical workflow, which can be time-consuming with traditional tools.
Camera position and image exports
Save camera positions and quickly export screenshots from Forma Site Design. Choose to include or exclude graphics.
Flexible export options
Export your proposals and analysis results in multiple formats—OBJ, IFC (Beta), PNG, SVG, and CSV. Share visuals, continue work in other tools, or analyze metrics.
Surface function tagging
Use the Surface tool to define the intended use of areas—like parks, playgrounds, or phases—by assigning custom functions. Choose from built-in or user-defined options to visually communicate site intent. Functions are site-specific and update instantly as you design.
SOC 2 Type 1 Compliance
Forma Site Design has been independently audited for SOC 2 Type 1. Autodesk implements security and privacy policies and practices based on industry standards and regularly conducts internal and external audits.
Access management
Forma Site Design makes collaboration easy and secure. Invite internal or external members to your site or project with tailored access levels—Viewer, Editor, or Manager. Choose between full project access or site-specific invites, and use Invite-Only mode to keep sensitive work confidential.
