Pierlite (business of Signify, formerly Philips Lighting) had a vision to supply project quantities of bespoke lighting products, designed by customers in real time and manufactured within a week. To deliver this unique value proposition to the market, Pierlite partnered with Tentech to design a new business model. This collaboration involved the implementation of Minute Configurator, a configuration interface and engine used to integrate product data, purchasing, planning, and production. Minute Configurator used parameterized models and a generation engine to let users customize lighting solutions, displaying a live 3D render and providing instant technical data. Production was streamlined with automated ordering and optimization of manufacturing processes, delivering a reduction in human resource. Configuration can revolutionize a broad range of product development processes, delivering speed, customization, and a new user experience.
