Autodesk Fusion 360 software continues to evolve for design and manufacturing in a single package. Sheet metal components can be designed using Fusion 360 or imported for virtually any CAD package to have the cutting toolpaths created using the Fusion 360 Manufacture workspace. This class will demonstrate methods for creating nests using both the Arrange command as well as the Nesting using the Nesting and Fabrication Extension. This class will demonstrate how you can use both Advanced Arrange and Nesting to arrange components on a sheet that can be cut using the Fusion 360 Manufacture workspace. The presentation will cover creating or importing files to be nested, setting up nest materials, creating nests, and finally using the Manufacture workspace to add cutting toolpaths to cut out the nests.

CAD data is the most important intellectual property that a manufacturer has. Autodesk offers products that create, manage, and enrich this data. AutoCAD, Inventor, and Autodesk Fusion 360 software create this data while Vault, Fusion 360 Manage Extension, and Upchain help manage it. The cloud-based Fusion 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud platforms facilitate collaboration within the field, while Prodsmart helps collaboration within production. Simultaneously, aspects of this data need to be shared with other enterprise systems like ERP. Ultimately, all these systems must be able to share aspects of this data throughout the lifecycle of a manufacturer's products. We'll demonstrate, via examples of Autodesk customer projects, how technologies such as Autodesk Platform Services and other third-party technologies make it possible to share this important data between these systems rather than leaving it siloed in different systems.

Have you encountered any challenges when creating a site context 3D model for a new project or proposal without sufficient survey data? This class will focus on workflows that will enable you to better create, evaluate, and communicate conceptual designs using InfraWorks software, Civil 3D software, and Revit software. We'll demonstrate how to build concept models from scratch by using the InfraWorks Model Builder tool, and we'll make modifications to the surface in InfraWorks by using imported 2D layout data from AutoCAD software and Civil 3D. Also, we will show the bidirectional workflow between Civil 3D and InfraWorks for grading design options and exporting out as IMX from InfraWorks to Civil 3D and converting them as toposurface in Revit for site work via publishing surfaces and linking topography to and from Autodesk Construction Cloud. Finally, we will cover the best practices to append the InfraWorks-exported FBX into Navisworks software for federated model with collaboration options like Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360 and Shared View/web view links.

In this session, we'll cover importing Revit systems, zones, and spaces from Revit System Analysis into HVAC Solution Pro software and creating intelligent HVAC system schematics. In this session, Admassu will share his journey from Africa to Finland and beginning his engineering work before ever seeing technology advancements. Our industry's current reliance on interoperability workflow hacks—such as app-specific import/export plug-ins, file formats with varying support across tools, and limited point-to-point translators—results in inconsistent data-sharing experiences that suck up time and require rework. Autodesk's Data Exchange app moves your disconnected workflows toward more-seamless cloud interoperability between the design tools you use every day, whether they be CAD tools or building information modeling (BIM) and 3D modeling apps (like AutoCAD software, Revit software, Tekla, Rhino, and Inventor software). In this class, you'll learn how you can use Data Exchange to curate, securely share, view, and manage design data across these apps and multiple stakeholders—with specific focus on AutoCAD and Revit interoperability. We'll explore how Data Exchange can simplify BIM/3D model-to-drawing sharing and generation, can move data more selectively and effectively from 2D to 3D, and can open the door to more-streamlined model audits and quantity takeoff (QTO).

In this session, we'll explore how building information modeling (BIM) automation techniques have been used to create 15,000+ generative designs for critical water and power infrastructure projects using Revit software. You will learn which tools are available for design automation efforts, including generative algorithms and artificial intelligence, and how these techniques plus Revit are helping owners and engineers automatically assess the most climate-resilient infrastructure options in the preliminary design phase of projects. We'll showcase specific examples of how Revit is being used to serve underrepresented communities in Brazil that are most impacted by climate change—focusing on the automatic generation of embedded carbon calculation documentation, CAPEX/OPEX tables, 3D models, and more, for wastewater treatment plants and electrical substations.

If you want to produce mechanical drawings that are intelligent and easy to manage, this class is for you. You'll learn how to reuse intelligent mechanical objects across multiple drawings, and how to build and export a component database that integrates with your ERP system. Insert an automatic parts list with an exact count, and watch as the Bill of Materials (BOM) updates itself intelligently with new or modified mechanical components. In addition, you'll discover how to annotate more-accurate and consistent designs by accessing standardized symbols that automatically update when design changes are made. Want to insert standard-based title blocks with different scale factors? No problem. You'll also learn how to create and update designs by defining foreground and background objects, as well as how to automatically generate hidden lines with specific layer management. You'll acquire valuable skills to create mechanical designs with ease and efficiency, saving you countless hours.

During this presentation we'll explain how to set up assets based on design files. We'll explore how to determine which assets need to be defined and what data can be associated in order for successful commissioning during the construction phase. We'll start by looking at how we can extract data from Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD software, and how we can prepare for assets import using the model-based workflow. As assets get installed in rooms and spaces, it's also critical to find a way to tie them to an LBS (location breakdown structure). Once we've defined these assets within Autodesk Construction Cloud, we'll show a way of creating a bidirectional link between the object in the design file and the Autodesk Construction Cloud database. We'll finish up using asset color coding on the 3D model, and run some reports we can use to show the progress of commissioning these objects.

The presentation will cover the 4D management of hundreds of machine installations, each with various stages of preparation work required. Previously the workflow involved comparing 2D AutoCAD layouts to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. First, we'll define the prerequisites of having a Factory Design Utilities layout, where the machines are individually laid out in 3D. The layout will then be imported into Navisworks software and prepared for the TimeLiner function. Then, we'll export a schedule as a .CSV with all the necessary details. Next, we'll import the file into Navisworks for the TimeLiner function. We'll show the process of making links, and explain all other necessary setup parameters. We'll run the sim, and export the viewport into a .PPT for distribution. In closing, you'll see an update to the original layout which then reflects in the end results. And we'll even include a change in schedule, to emulate logistical issues. The workflow helps with collaborative agile planning.

In the post-pandemic era, we still find that supporting distributed teams of employees, project partners and customers located in offices, on the road, and working at home is still a challenge – especially when it comes to ensuring high performance access to project files and their security. This is further exasperated by systems we rushed to implement during the pandemic, mergers and acquisitions taking place in the industry, and a desire to continue leveraging a best-of-breed global workforce.
