Autodesk’s AEC Collection provides an extraordinary range of capabilities and tools that, when integrated, create incredible insights and make easy work of complex design and project problems. This class will explore the potential and power of Digital Construction and Project Management with the AEC Collection. We will explore how Virtual Design and Construction principles can be leveraged with different software integrations. Some of the software this class will explore is AutoCAD Civil 3D, Autodesk Vehicle Tracking, ReCap and ReCap Photo, Navisworks, Infraworks and more. The aim of this class is to focus on the ideas of collaboration and virtually simulating a project proactively to vet out any potential issues or pain points before the project begins. In this class, we will dive into a complex installation of several large tanks in a client facility. We will use Autodesk Vehicle Tracking and Infraworks to simulate the custom size of the tanks, the existing grade change of the campus, as well as the logistics of shipping the tanks on site and through the client’s campus. We will also use ReCap Photo, ReCap Pro, and Navisworks to generate a 3D model of the existing site conditions to properly simulate the translation and rotation of these tanks into place. Then we will use FormIt and AutoCAD to model the custom truck and trailer as well as tanks as they integrate into the existing conditions of the site. With the integration of all these programs, the project was able to succeed as planned utilizing found vehicle and building clearances as well as logistical confirmation of the projects ability to proceed. This class will demonstrate the effectiveness of the AEC Collection as well as the Virtual Design and Construction methodology.
