Back to school with Autodesk University

It’s official—fall is here. Time to put away the white clothes, pack up the beach towels, and break out the schoolbooks. With kids everywhere heading back to school, it’s the perfect time to celebrate learning. After all, since AU is a premier destination for learning about the evolution of engineering and design processes, learning is right up our alley. Learning can take many different forms. For designers, manufacturers, and engineers, staying on top of industry best practices is essential. And with technology evolving more rapidly than ever before, it’s crucial to staying ahead. A key way to help people in your organization learn about the latest capabilities, workflows, and processes, is to provide hands-on training. Sounds easy enough, right? But training is actually tricky to master. First, it’s a budget question: how can you justify the expense and make sure you get the most for your training budget? Second, not everyone who can “do” can teach, and the styles and methods are as many and varied as the teachers employing them. So where to begin? If you’re looking to implement a new training program or revamp an existing curriculum, AU can help. We have classes available online for everything from figuring out the best way to educate your team to how to create your own training guides and more. Training on the cheap Good training can be expensive—bringing in an expert, purchasing or developing training materials, losing work hours. But it doesn't have to be. Check out this class from veteran Autodesk trainer and AU speaker, Eric Chappell, to learn how you can successfully train your users in the tools they use without spending a lot of money, and without disrupting production: CM2797: Training Your Users with No Training Budget Learning versus Trainingdo you have to choose? In case you missed it, this class from Rebecca Arsham (which we featured earlier this year on the blog) is another great resource for newcomers, or those needing to up their training game. Arsham first dives into the difference between learning and training, and then explains how to combine both to help you create a winning learning strategy: BM10023: Good Versus Evil—Is There a Winner in Training Versus Learning Head to AU online for more great classes to help you strategize, devise, and implement a successful training program for your organization.
