Hookahs to helicopters: Get inspired at the AU Project Gallery

We’ve all been there—designer’s block. Sometimes your creative juices need a little squeeze. We know just the place to head when you need some inspiration: Autodesk University Project Gallery. “Eclectic” doesn’t do it justice. The AU Project Gallery is an online hub of innovation, invention, and ideation, a cluster bomb of creativity, where architects, engineers, and product designers from all over the world come to dream big and share their boldest ideas. Looking for a robotic T. rex head? The gallery is the place to find it. Jet turbine? You’ll also find at least 1 of those. You’ll find the weird and wacky, the practical and powerful, and the elegant and inspiring all on display. From aircraft to air purifiers, drones to earphones, cars to catamarans, interior designs to an Indonesian gambus (hint: it’s a kind of lute), it’s all there, available 24/7. There’s even a hookah. And who knows what will be added tomorrow? You’ll find things you can’t find anywhere else, like the old-timey typewriter designed for an iPad by Ekaterina Tikhomirova in Fusion 360. Or the artificial aloe vera plant Davide Florentino designed for his air purifier, also in Fusion 360. We’re pretty sure that’s the first of its kind, and may be for quite a while. See something that interests you? Download the model file and get a look at how it was made. Leave a comment for the creator, or ask a question about the process he or she followed. The AU Project Gallery is refreshingly troll-free. And if all that creativity and ingenuity should inspire you to create something of your own, you know where to share it. The gallery is waiting. And we’ve got a lot of future to make. [caption id="attachment_1435" align="aligncenter" width="580"]Kuniaki Sento's robotic T. rex head Kuniaki Sento's robotic T. rex head[/caption]
