Convince a Design Team to Shift to BIM During Project and Achieve Owner’s Goals

This session concerns the design of an office-building project wherein Building Information Modeling (BIM) was not considered in the design contract, but was initiated once the project had started. During this class, we will share our experience of managing 2 architects, 2 structural engineering companies, and an MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) engineering company, with respect to an ongoing BIM execution plan. The class shows that convincing the design team to integrate BIM processes is essential to respond to owner’s goals. We will explain how to convert the project conditions and requirements into BIM processes. The class specifically will focus on modeling scheduling according to an existing SNCF railway platform (geometric and acoustic conditions), and constraints due to existing structures. It also will focus on processes that cover the uses of the Revit software model to respond to estimation and sustainable-information models. In addition, we will talk about how we were able to submit the design earlier in the process for facade construction. This session features Revit and Navisworks Manage.
