Vellore Institute of Technology’s (VIT) School of Architecture is redefining technical education by empowering students to become job creators. With a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship, the program encourages students to think beyond traditional career paths and envision themselves as future innovators and leaders.

The architecture curriculum at VIT is deeply rooted in technical excellence. Leveraging BIM software, students gain hands-on experience with industry-leading tools like Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Forma, which allows them to design, simulate, and visualize complex architectural projects with precision and efficiency.

One standout example is a prototype for a sustainable capsule designed by architecture student Sneha Devaraju. By using Autodesk Forma during the concept stage, she was able to understand the design to optimize for energy efficiency and sustainability.

“My passion is to combine design with the latest technology,” Devaraju says. “I want to come up with structures that are environmentally responsive, dynamic, and flexible…It is about the mindset of influencing the entire lifecycle of the building.”

Collaboration and mentorship are central to the learning experience. Students work closely with faculty and industry professionals. In the newly opened Design & Make Studio powered by Autodesk, students can receive guidance in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment that helps them refine their designs and prepare for entrepreneurial ventures.

Graduates of VIT’s architecture program consistently stand out in the industry for their advanced technical expertise. By fostering a culture of innovation, VIT is shaping a new generation of architects who are equipped to lead, create, and transform the built environment.

"We are encouraging our students wherever it is possible for them to become entrepreneurs. They should help society and the country. We want them to be a model to rest of the nation, and that's what our students are doing."
