STRABAG leads the way in digital construction management
Leveraging Autodesk Construction Cloud to elevate project delivery

Adopting digital workflows is key to delivering construction projects on time, on quality, and on budget. That’s why STRABAG a.s., which operates in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, has selected to work with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) across several high-profile infrastructure and building developments.
Let’s take a look at three very different civil engineering and real estate projects that STRABAG is currently working on in central Europe on to see why in each case ACC is the tool of choice when it comes to maximising the value of digital workflows in modern construction.
Prague Metro: Transforming information sharing in urban construction
In the heart of Prague, STRABAG is part of an international consortium building the Pankrác and Olbrachtova stations for Metro Line D over a period of seven years until 2029. It is also responsible for the 1.2 km long tunnel between the two stations. Not only is ACC helping overcome the challenges of geology and tunnelling in a densely built-up urban area, it’s also guaranteeing the free flow of accurate information.

Autodesk Docs for streamlined communication
STRABAG adopted Autodesk Docs as the primary platform for document management, issue tracking, and internal communication. “Now everyone working on the project – from the modellers to the site manager – has unified access to up-to-date models and documentation from a single source,” says Štěpán Růžička, BIM Coordinator at STRABAG a.s. This ensures all the project’s stakeholders can work with the latest information throughout the project lifecycle.
Štěpán explains that the team uses point clouds for as-built comparisons and publishes the results to ACC, making them accessible to the broader team. This transparent approach lets them detect clashes and document and share how they are resolved to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
“In the ACC environment, it’s much easier for us to coordinate construction objects and avoid collisions, saving us thousands of euros.”
ACC delivers cost savings, reduced rework, and transparency

With centralised issue management in ACC, STRABAG achieves faster decision-making and produces clear audit trails: issues can be raised, tracked, and resolved in real time, reducing the need for lengthy meetings and email chains. Early identification of design clashes prevents costly on-site delays; Štěpán notes that avoiding a single day of delay on the site of one of the stations translates into savings of tens of thousands of euros.
STRABAG’s lessons learned on the Prague metro project are informing future projects, with a view to adopting digital collaboration for all partners and making the most of the efficiency gains this offers.
Smichov Campus: Empowering collaboration with centralised data
STRABAG is leading the consortium to build the new headquarters of the Czech bank Česka spořitelna in Prague’s Smichov district. It is using ACC to handle the unique challenges posed by the multi-investor environment – including complex approvals and coordination with multiple subcontractors – and to set new standards for sustainable digital construction management.
BIM Collaborate for seamless real-time collaboration
Ondřej Jančálek, who heads STRABAG’s design department for civil engineering in Prague, explains that the team needed a unified platform to bring together documentation, model sharing, and collaboration both in-house and with subcontractors. Coordinating among multiple investors and neighbouring projects makes it essential to keep information up to date and avoid costly errors. “A whole suburb is being built at the same time,” Ondřej notes.
From the outset, STRABAG adopted ACC for its internal workflows and collaboration needs. Integrating design and documentation into ACC’s BIM Collaborate module allows for centralised model sharing, tailored approval workflows, and automated notifications. “This improves transparency, reduces errors, and accelerates issue resolution,” Ondřej says.

“Working with ACC lets us give our subcontractors the real-time access they need to our central models and documentation.”
ACC enhances flexibility and achieves significant cost savings
By implementing ACC, STRABAG achieves significant time and cost savings through reduced bottlenecks in document reviews. Ondřej points out that comprehensive audit trails record each step of the approval process, providing transparency and accountability: “Multi-stage checks with role-based approvals guarantee that all documents are thoroughly vetted, reducing the risk of errors.”
ACC’s accessible interface facilitates onboarding for subcontractors and enables seamless collaboration, enhanced by Revit Cloud Worksharing, that allows multiple stakeholders to work on a shared model simultaneously. Its centralised document storage supports STRABAG’s sustainability and certification goals.
Zvolen sports complex: Using real-time data to drive excellence
In Zvolen, Slovakia, the transformation of a neglected school sports complex into a state-of-the-art athletic facility stands as a testament to the power of digital construction management. STRABAG’s mission was to create a modern, multi-functional space supporting both school activities and the local community, all while leveraging the robust capabilities of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) to drive efficiency, transparency, and quality at every stage.
Autodesk Build for integrated information, field collaboration, and project management
During construction, STRABAG faced the key challenge of establishing a transparent system for collecting and sharing real-time site data to keep all teams aligned and the project on track. With multiple teams involved – from engineers and supervisors to quality control inspectors and drone operators – it was crucial to have a centralised platform that minimised delays and miscommunication.
Autodesk Build became the backbone of this digital coordination. Especially through the ACC mobile app, the platform enabled fast and consistent data collection through mobile forms for tracking materials, staff hours, and quality test results. “Real-time notifications and clearly defined roles ensured that everyone received timely updates,” says Jakub Ducár, BIM Manager at STRABAG. “This reduced waiting times and prevented errors.”

“We estimate that using ACC saved 25–30 percent of time on daily reporting and quality documentation tasks.”
ACC’s customised workspaces accelerate reporting and minimise rework
Autodesk Build cut the time spent on daily reporting and quality documentation by up to 30 percent, freeing staff to focus on higher-value tasks, while early resolution of coordination issues – especially during utility installation and finishing works – helped avoid dozens of hours of costly rework. With the help of digitalised processes, the team slashed manual paperwork, boosted productivity, and streamlined administration.
Conclusion: ACC boosts performance in digital construction management
In these three cutting-edge civil engineering projects, STRABAG has successfully adopted a range of ACC modules with some 130 users currently working in the platform. They are using Autodesk Docs to share models and documentation transparently and in real time, BIM Collaborate to integrate data from third-party software packages, and Autodesk Build to manage on-site coordination.
Since ACC supports a wide range of file formats, including IFC, PDF, and Revit, it enables STRABAG to achieve seamless collaboration and data management across various construction workflows.
STRABAG uses ACC to:
Save time and money
Reduce rework and avoid errors
Improve access to documentation
Enhance collaboration
Increase transparency
