Important Notice Regarding Pype eBinder and/or Pype SmartPlans Subscription: FAQ

1. What is happening and why is this change taking place?

As of March 26, 2024, Pype® eBinder and Pype® SmartPlans web services will no longer be offered for subscription renewals.

Autodesk acquired Pype® webservice and its suite of products in 2020, introducing valuable solutions for automating and streamlining the Submittals and Closeout processes as part of Autodesk® Construction Cloud. Of the 4 Pype product offerings, Pype® AutoSpecs and Pype Closeout are the mostly widely adopted by our customers and remain a focus of our development team.

We are continually evaluating how to provide the greatest value to our customers through our product portfolio. This decision will help us to focus resources on developing the solutions most impactful to your business.

2. If I have an active Pype eBinder/SmartPlans subscription and my subscription ends after March 26, 2024, how will this change impact me?

All subscriptions will remain active through the end of your current subscription term. Since there will not be the option to renew, once your current contract ends, you will no longer be able to access project data in eBinder or SmartPlans.

3. Will any changes happen to my access before the final expiration of my subscription?

No. You can continue to use eBinder and SmartPlans uninterrupted through the end of your subscription term.

4. After my subscription end date, will I still have access to my data within Pype eBinder/SmartPlans?

No. We recommend that you extract any submittal logs or eBinders from the system and download any required plans or documents you wish to save. This needs to be done prior to the end of your current subscription term.

5. What are my options to save my project data?

Data from within eBinder and SmartPlans is easily exported. After generating your submittal log or creating the closeout eBinder, you can export them just as they would within your usual workflows. If you would like to download the plans or documents you uploaded into the system, you also have that option. Instructions on how to export and download project data are available on our helpsite:

If you would like to continue to leverage their project information within Autodesk Construction Cloud, you can save eBinder files to Autodesk® Docs webservice. For the submittal logs generated by SmartPlans, you can upload your submittal log into Submittals within Autodesk® Build webservice to continue the submittal workflow. Instruction on how to upload a submittal log into Build can be found on the help site here.
