The next frontier of digital collaboration for AECO lies in cloud-based operations. The cloud facilitates collaboration, automation and data insights – all essential for business growth.
As more construction work becomes cloud-based, Autodesk has seen a growing demand for regional data offerings. Many of our customers face data residency requirements – particularly on public sector projects. Others prefer to have their cloud data under local jurisdiction because of the confidence it gives their clients.
To give our EMEA customers greater choice and control over where they store project data, Autodesk has launched a new local data offering. Construction professionals can choose the UK or Germany as their primary data storage region when using Autodesk tools including Autodesk Docs, Autodesk BIM Collaborate and Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro.
Our UK and Germany data centres join new offerings in India, Japan and Canada, alongside existing Autodesk Regional Offerings in the United States, European Union and Australia.
“The AECO industry is increasingly driven by data, and our customers face significant demands to comply with local data residency regulations. Expanding our regional data offerings is a significant milestone in Autodesk’s ongoing mission to support the industry with access to more advanced tools and technologies,” says Matthew Keen, director, construction strategy AEC solutions at Autodesk.
“By providing our customers with greater control over their project data, we empower them to harness data insights to modernise workflows and drive multi-discipline collaboration to remain competitive. These advancements are critical to supporting innovation and growth within the UK’s AECO sector.”
For customers such as Reds10, in-region data is an essential business need.
“Data is foundational to everything we do – we need it to be secure and compliant with UK law,” said Scott Laird, AI and technical director at Reds10, a UK-based advanced construction specialist focused on sustainable modern methods of construction (MMC) buildings for the public sector.
“As an organisation working exclusively on government-led projects, data security, compliance and trust are non-negotiable. The Autodesk Regional Offering in the UK supports our commitment to local data storage requirements by ensuring project data remains within UK jurisdiction. This local hosting not only strengthens our compliance posture but also reassures our clients that their data is handled with the highest standards of integrity and care.”
Our regional offerings give customers more options for adopting cloud-collaboration products, helping them meet client expectations, streamline data sources and unify project stakeholders on common tools and workflows.
With new regional data options, our customers in the UK and DACH, as well as India, Japan and Canada, can locally store project data – including files, designs, models, data sets and documents – that enables teams to execute anytime from anywhere.
Amazon Web Services (AWS), the global leader in cloud infrastructure, powers Autodesk’s regional offerings.
"AWS is proud to deepen our decades-long strategic partnership with Autodesk through their expansion of regional data offerings, enabling customers to store their data closer to where they operate," said Colin Lazier, vice president of Databases at AWS.
"By leveraging AWS's global infrastructure across the UK, Germany, India, Japan, and Canada, Autodesk is addressing the growing demand for data residency while delivering the performance, security, and scalability that architecture, engineering, construction, and operations professionals need. This expansion reflects our shared commitment to providing customers with the flexibility and control they require to accelerate their digital transformation journeys."
Autodesk customers rely on project data to design, coordinate, and execute complex projects on tight timelines. They need to trust us with their most critical project data.
Autodesk’s regional offerings meet our customers’ high expectations for security, privacy, resiliency and recoverability – while offering them more choice in where their project data is stored and processed.
We use a combination of process, technology and security controls and collaborate with industry partners to meet privacy standards.
Construction professionals who rely on Autodesk tools recognise data is one of their most powerful assets. They have high expectations around security, compliance and resiliency.
Our growing regional data offerings, such as our UK and German data centres, help these professionals work smarter with secure, accessible and connected data – while making it easier for them to comply with local regulations and meet client demands.
