Strong leaders are defined by their ability to do three things: inspire people with a strong vision, empower teams to execute, and influence change beyond their immediate org. Jacques has delivered on all three.

As Head of Projects at Abcon Developments, Jacques turned his digital transformation vision (dubbed “A Future Developed”) into action by standardising a cloud-first approach across the company’s developments—establishing a new benchmark for the industry. By replacing paper-heavy workflows with a unified digital backbone, his team clawed back 30–40% of previously lost time, streamlined design cycles, and reduced the admin burden across functions.

He demonstrated disciplined execution by guiding projects such as Sandton Gate into digital showcases, leveraging Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) to deliver 22,000 m² of design reviews within three months—all managed through a centralised data environment.

Beyond execution, Jacques has pushed the boundaries of what digital platforms can do. His team pioneered customised, first-of-their-kind workflows in Autodesk—like tenant coordination and other traditionally admin-heavy processes—setting new precedents for how technology serves development, leasing, and asset management.

Finally, Jacques is influencing the wider industry by sharing Abcon’s playbook with peers: extending access to partners, running live BIM walk-throughs, and turning retrospectives into actionable improvements. In doing so, he is helping position South Africa at the forefront of digitally managed construction.

"In 2025, Jacques moved his organisation decisively from legacy, paper-heavy practice to a data-driven, cloud-based operating model. This shift has not only delivered measurable value at project and team levels, but is also reshaping industry expectations and Abcon’s corporate culture alike."

11. Craig Lewis

Northeast Integration Manager, DPR Construction
Hoboken, NJ

Craig is the epitome of what it means to be future-focused in construction. What sets him apart is not just his drive to advance technology, but his commitment to creating a positive, people-centered work experience for everyone on a DPR jobsite—an environment designed for efficiency, collaboration, and well-being.

Craig began his career in the field managing projects—complex data center and life science research and development projects. Working side-by-side with field teams, he saw first-hand the frustrations caused by disconnected tools and the inefficiencies that slowed progress. Those lessons shaped his philosophy: technology only matters if it helps people work smarter and help drive decisions.

This experience now drives his work as DPR’s Technology Integration Manager, where he ensures that systems across design, construction, and operations don’t just coexist—they harmonize. His role is about embedding the right solutions so project teams can focus on building with clarity and confidence. Through pilots and prototypes, such as digital plan tables or improved jobsite signage, Craig shows teams what’s possible, then works to scale those solutions in practical, repeatable ways.

At the heart of Craig’s vision is the Jobsite of the Future—a grassroots initiative reimagining jobsites as intentionally designed ecosystems. Still in development, the concept is inspired by locations with complicated logistics and large volumes of people, like airports or theme parks, he imagines construction projects where wayfinding, amenities, signage, and communication flows are designed to support safety, clarity, and worker well-being.

To bring this vision closer to reality, Craig is exploring emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation, and data integration. He uses these tools to generate visuals that help stakeholders see new workflows, test process automations that save time, and evaluate systems that could be scaled across DPR. His approach is methodical: test small, validate impact, then expand.

Craig’s philosophy is simple: when workers feel supported and technology is seamlessly embedded into their environment, adoption rises, data improves, and projects run more efficiently. By bridging field-level insights with enterprise-level strategy, he helps DPR connect vision with execution and define what the modern jobsite should feel like.

“Craig’s ideas to improve the construction process are unbounded by the constraints that hold us back today. He focuses not only on the ‘hard’ components of the work, but also on the ‘soft’ side as well, by leveraging technology and innovation to elevate the experience for everyone on our DPR jobsites.”
