Why We all Hate Interoperability: Tools, Late Nights, and Case Studies

We all hate interop, let's not hide it. Instead, let's look at the big picture of why and what teams need, what makes it difficult and why, and how it can be approached. Amongst other issues, we will discuss: the impacts of sharing files versus sharing data, what tool ecosystem to use and how finding the right tool for the job usually results in a million 'right' tools doing a million jobs, and how to integrate workflows which require more specialised skill sets. For these points, we will zoom in with specific case studies from our work at Grimshaw, illustrating various problems faced, approaches used, what didn't work, and how we solved the issue. We'll also cover the tools we use and the history of the tools we've built to accomplish this.
