Q: Who are the workshops suitable for? |
A: Attendees must have an interest in Generative Design and Manufacturing. These workshops are NOT training courses, they are a more holistic method of learning and experiencing Generative Design.
Attendees should be aware of their company’s design problems and use CNC machinery and/or Additive Manufacturing to manufacture designs. Workshops should be attended by a broad mix of attendees, who represent a broad knowledge of the company’s design and manufacturing processes.
Q: Are the Workshops still running during Covid-19? |
A: Yes. The workshops have all become virtual for the time being. These workshops are broken up into separate sessions, to ensure each workshop isn’t too long per session! Any printed prototype produced at our tech centre can be mailed to you, these will be disinfected first to ensure the maximum level of safety.
Q: Can attendees still do day-to-day work during the workshops? |
A: No. The only way to ensure the success of their time here is to dedicate themselves to it.
Q: Is there a fee to attend the workshop? |
A: We don’t charge for the workshops, no. You only require a commercial license of Fusion 360 (or access through an entitlement) and enough cloud credits to generate outcomes.
Q: What if I do not own the Fusion 360 license but my company is interested in learning more? |
A: If Generative Design excites you, these workshops are a unique opportunity to get hands on with a Generative Design expert, who can provide a unique insight and vast experience into teaching the fundamentals of Generative Design. Fusion has online tutorials, example parts and instructional videos as to how Generative Design is applied. If you think these applications could be used in your manufacturing workflows, contact us about the Introductory Workshops.
Q: Do workshop attendees need to have any specific skills or experience to participate (e.g., Autodesk software, 3D printing, coding)? |
A: Attendees should be proficient in CAD (Autodesk or non-Autodesk products). No coding or generative design experience is required.
Q: Will other companies be participating in the workshop? |
A: No. One of the benefits of the program is learning alongside your peers, with respect to your design and manufacturing projects, in an interpersonal workshop exclusively for your company. Workshops can be run for a maximum number of 10 attendees per workshop.
Q: Will I gain hands on experience? |
A: Absolutely. Whether it’s case studies and business cases on the Introductory Workshops, to your own designs on the Focused Workshops and Manufacturability Workshops. Each workshop will allow you to understand Generative Design workflows, apply them directly to designs and realise how each one can be manufactured with respect to your own manufacturing requirements and needs.
Q: Will attendees be able to bring parts which contain sensitive IP onto the program? |
A: Yes. If you are planning on bringing sensitive IP onto the workshop, please inform us in advance. If attending in person, please bear in mind, the Technology Centres are open environments, there is no guarantee that we can safeguard any sensitive IP without any prior notice, which if we receive, we can protect sensitive IP.
Q: Is food provided? |
A: Lunch is provided; Breakfast is not. Coffee/Tea are also provided.
Q: Who should I contact Should I have any further questions? |
A:Contact Graham Goodier, at graham.goodier@autodesk.com.
