Project planning made easier

California-based DPR Construction, a commercial general contractor, enjoys a challenge. Most of its projects are complex, with aggressive schedules, like its joint venture on a new University of Arizona bioscience lab building. Given how critical planning is to delivering projects on time, DPR decided to use BIM 360 Plan cloud-based construction planning software to help drive efficiency in the planning process—and productivity in the field.

Using BIM 360 Plan enabled DPR to collaborate on planning with subcontractors to make better use of planning time. A single dashboard kept everyone on the same page—literally—making it clear exactly what’s been completed already, what tasks were left to be done, and who was doing what. Once weekly plans were agreed upon, team members accessed BIM 360 Plan from the field to help stay on track. Subcontractors loved the transparency BIM 360 Plan gave them, and DPR benefitted from leaner project teams, improved productivity, and fewer change orders and schedule delays, while delivering more value to the customer.
