Improving performance in the field
When Skanska Norway, a leading global project development and construction group, was commissioned to build the new office of Statoil, a Norwegian oil and gas company, in Bergen, Norway, the company decided to make that its BIM pilot project. Skanska deployed BIM 360 Field and BIM 360 Glue to help manage the project because it combined mobile and cloud technology to help put critical information in the hands of project team members in the field. Skanska’s team used the software for quality control before and after construction, and were better able to identify clashes virtually, which field teams resolved prior to construction.
The company also used BIM 360 Field to help deliver on its commitment to safety, performing safety checks, capturing and distributing documentation, collaborating closely with subcontractors, and detecting and fixing issues quickly. Subcontractors and the building owner both loved using BIM 360 Field software as it helped them save time and money, boost efficiency, and improve commissioning in the handover phase.
