This Readme contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of this service pack. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire document before you apply the service pack to your product. For your reference, you should save this Readme to your hard drive or print a copy.

Who Should Install the Service Pack?

Service Pack 1 is for the following Autodesk products running on all supported operating systems and languages. Be sure to install the correct service pack for your software.

• AutoCAD^® 2007

Primary Issues Resolved by the Service Pack

Problems Reported with the Customer Error Reporting Utility

As a result detailed information from customers who used the Customer Error Reporting Utility, a number of problems were identified and fixed. Updates have been made in the following feature areas.

General Updates

Other changes included in this service pack include the following updates.

3D Navigation

• Intellimouse scrolling with ZOOMWHEEL set to 1 now works as expected when in Orbit modes.
• 3DORBIT performance has been improved.

Customize User Interface

• '\' character is consistently recognized when used in macros.

Dimensioning

• Diameter symbol is correctly displayed when Unit format is set to Windows Desktop.

External References

• Constant reload of relative external references has been resolved.
• IMAGEATTACH of CMYK images no longer result in Invalid Image warnings.
• DWF files produced with Revit Structure 2 or 3 can now be attached to AutoCAD drawings.

Hatch

• Migrated drawings containing custom hatch patterns now work correctly.

Internet

• Opening drawing from an Internet site by means of i-Drop or File > Open now operates as expected.

Materials

• Materials applied to flat, or nearly flat, shells now display correctly.

Modify

• The following operations now perform correctly in files saved in AutoCAD 2000 and Release 14 file formats from AutoCAD 2007:
  • Copy and Paste
  • Cut and Paste
  • Block and Insert
  • Wblock and Insert
  • Drag and Drop operations
• STRETCH command used on polylines with opposing normals works as expected.

Multiline Text and Text

• %%D and %%P Mtext characters from Korean and Chinese SHX bigfonts display correctly.
• Lines of text containing spaces that use a bigfont text style display correctly.
• Multiline text containing stacked fractions problems corrected when TSPACETYPE is set to 2.
• Text width corrected when using MTEXT with the \T option.
• During a spell checking process, the replacement of extended characters with '?' has been resolved.
• Several issues fixed that allow Japanese MTEXT objects created in 2006-based drawings to display correctly when opened in AutoCAD 2007.
• SHX font flow, in bi-directional operating systems, now go in the right direction.
Two key strokes are needed to enter any non-Unicode special symbols defined in Bigfont SHX files. In addition, two keystrokes are now required to remove these symbols.

Networks

• Network License Manager updated so restricted users can successfully start the network version of AutoCAD on certain localized operating systems.

Performance

• A number of improvements made to use memory more efficiently.
• Significant improvements made in the speed of opening certain types of drawings created in MAP and Civil 3D products.
• Sheet Set Manager field evaluation has been improved to allow for significantly faster opening and publishing of the drawings.

Plotting and Publishing

• Raster images now plot correctly if they are part of the block inserted in the table cell.
• Bitonal transparent raster images no longer loose transparency when plotted.
• Line weight of certain objects is correctly interpreted when plotting to PDF files.
• FIELDEVAL setting now maintained after publishing drawings.
• Special non-ASCII characters are now correctly interpreted in the Plot Styles (STB and CTB files).

  Note: If you created a plot style file in an AutoCAD 2007 product with non-ASCII characters in the style name or description, then you will have to rename those characters and resave the plot style file.

Security

• Drawing properties are now encrypted during password protection of drawings when you select that option. If you are exchanging drawings with customers using the 'Encrypt drawing properties' feature, they must also install this service pack 1.

Solid Modeling

• Improvements made to allow editing of very large solid models.

Startup, Save, Open and Close

• Corrupted or zero-byte drawings no longer created when insufficient disk space conditions are detected.

General Installation Information

Before You Start

As you prepare to install the service pack, keep these points in mind:

• Custom files backup — Before you apply this service pack, be sure to back up all custom CUI, MNR, and MNL files.
• Administrative privileges — During installation, you will be prompted for the original installation CD or network image. You must have administrative permissions to install and uninstall products in order to successfully apply service packs.
• Network deployment — Administrators can deploy the service pack over the network using the Deployment wizard.
• Service pack removal — Once this service pack is applied, it cannot be removed by running an automatic uninstall program. The product must be uninstalled and reinstalled to undo the service pack changes.

About Windows Command Line Switches

Two Microsoft^® Windows^® command line switches are built into this service pack:

• /e – Extracts the MSP file from the service pack executable.
• /q – Suppresses the completion message after the service pack is applied. This is useful if you use a script or batch file to apply the service pack to multiple computers.

Instructions about how to use the /e command line switch is included in the procedures that follow.

Installation Instructions

Apply This Service Pack to a Stand-Alone Installation

Follow these instructions to install a service pack on an individual computer.

To update a stand-alone installation

1. Download the service pack and save it to any folder.
2. Insert the product CD (for example, AutoCAD).
3. Find the folder where you saved the service pack and double-click the executable (EXE) file.

Apply This Service Pack Through a Local Network

You can use Communication Center to apply this service pack through your local network. Detailed instructions on how to set up patching through your local network are listed in the Communication Center tab of the CAD Manager Control Utility help.

Note: The CAD Manager Control Utility can be installed from the product installation CD by selecting Network Deployment and then selecting the Autodesk CAD Manager Tools 4.0 link in the Media Browser.

Apply This Service Pack to a Network Administrative Image

The following distribution methods apply only to administrative images created with the Deployment wizard. After you complete these procedures, any subsequent deployments of the product will include the service pack updates.

The patch (service pack) file that you download contains an MSP (Microsoft Patch) file, which you extract from the executable file using the /e (extract) switch. For an example of the syntax, see step 2, below.

To add the service pack to a new administrative image

1. From the Autodesk Product Support website, download the service pack EXE file to your local computer.
2. On the Start menu (Windows), click Run. Enter information using the following syntax and click OK.

   <local_drive:>\<patch_name>\ /e <local_drive:>\< patch_name>.msp

3. On the computer where you installed the Deployment wizard, on the Start menu (Windows), click All Programs (or Programs) > Autodesk > Deployment Wizard.
4. In the Deployment wizard, on the Welcome page, select Create an Administrative Image. Click Next.
5. On the Create Administrative Image page, in the Select Autodesk Installer (MSI) File box, enter the path to acad.msi (or acadlt.msi), the MSI file that you use as the basis for your administrative image. You can find this file on your product CD-ROM in cdrom:\Bin\acadFeui (or cdrom:\Bin\acltFeui).
6. In the Administrative Image Location box, specify the shared network location where you want to create an administrative image, or click Browse to find a location. Users install the product from this location.
7. In the Apply a Service Pack box, enter the path for the patch (the location you entered in step 2, including the file extension .msp). You can also browse to locate the MSP file. Click Next.
8. If you are using Group Policy (GPO) for this deployment, select the "Group Policy Objects will be used to distribute the deployment" option. Click Next.
9. Follow the instructions in the Deployment wizard to complete the service pack deployment.

To apply the service pack to an existing administrative image

1. From the Autodesk Product Support website, download the service pack EXE file to your local computer.
2. On the Start menu (Windows), click Run. Enter the following information and click OK.

   <local_drive:>\<patch_name>\ /e <local_drive:>\< patch_name>.msp

3. On the computer where you installed the Deployment wizard, on the Start menu (Windows), click All Programs (or Programs) > Autodesk > Deployment Wizard.
4. In the Deployment wizard, on the Welcome page, select Modify an Administrative Image. Click Next.
5. On the Modify Administrative Image page, in the Select an MSI File list, select an Autodesk installer MSI file from a shared network location that contains the administrative image you want to modify. Users install the product from this location.
6. In the Apply a Service Pack box, enter the path to the patch (the location you entered in step 2, including the file extension .msp). You can also browse to locate the MSP file. Click Next.
7. If you are using Group Policy (GPO) for this deployment, select the "Group Policy Objects will be used to distribute the deployment" option. Click Next.
8. Follow the instructions in the Deployment wizard to complete the service pack deployment.
